Garstang Pre-School and Nursery is one of the leading providers of quality care for children aged 0-5 years. Our aim is to provide a warm, caring and stimulating environment for all children. We believe that every child deserves the best possible start in life and support to fulfil their full potential and are here to support that.

Garstang Pre-School and Nursery is able to offer children a happy and healthy day. We provide freshly prepared meals that are cooked on the premises, which include healthy and nutritional breakfasts, snacks, lunch and light tea. This is supported by activities both indoors and outdoors and in the wider environment of the woodlands at Forest school.
Services
Garstang Pre-school was originally set up in 1967 by a group of mums who wanted to come together to meet other mums and let their children play and make friendships. Over the years Pre-school has enjoyed much success and has grown and developed into a popular and well respected community provision.
People play a crucial part in the childcare sector. At Garstang Pre-School and Nursery we realise the need to invest in them. Our nursery and pre-school are staffed with carefully selected highly motivated, experienced and knowledgeable early year's practitioners. All the staff are qualified with a minimum of a level 3.
You must inform the nursery staff as soon as possible if your child has an infectious disease. The nursery has a sickness policy and takes advice from the local government 'infection control for day care' guidelines and will also act in accordance with their 'sickness policy'. All items of clothing and personal property should be clearly named.
We organise our sessions so that the children can choose from a range of activities and, in doing so, build up their ability to select and explore at their own pace enabling them to make sense of the world around them and take their learning to a higher level.

The children are also helped and encouraged to take part in adult-led, small and large group activities which introduce them to new experiences and help them to gain new skills, as well as helping them to learn to work with others.We gather together in the mornings and a share a welcome song and talk about activities that are on offer, this helps to create a great sense community and belonging.
Forest School builds independence, self-esteem and resilience in children. They are given a greater degree of freedom to explore and experience the natural world for themselves. A combination of freedom and responsibility is beneficial to children with little confidence or challenging behaviour.

Children gain valuable life skills and improve their communication whilst developing a sense of responsibility, in addition they develop team working abilities.Beneficial for all children as we learn by 'doing', we climb trees, build dens and we use real tools and have campfires for cooking. Children involved in Forest School become more responsible for their actions, can calculate risks better and show improved self-confidence.
