My name is Collette, welcome to 'Steps to Positive Change'. I am a Clinical Solution Focused Hypnotherapist and I practice out of Cheltenham, covering the North of Gloucestershire. The aim of Hypnotherapy is to bring about beneficial changes to certain problems that have their origins in the mind. Hypnotherapy is a process of applying, while in Hypnosis, therapeutic suggestion/ intervention to release the negative elements that are driving the particular unwanted behaviour or problem.
I am a solution Focused Clinical Hypnotherapist & Psychotherapist based in Cheltenham and covering the North of Gloucestershire including Stroud. I think I was always destined to be a psychotherapist. I have always been interested in people and the welfare of others. Coupled with my curiosity and desire to understand how those wonderful minds of ours work and what impacts on our behaviour and ultimately our health.
When sensibly and professionally applied, hypnosis can create new thought patterns, behaviours and habits that will help build a new, more positive approach to life. Hypnotherapy can help in many ways and there are many branches too. Probably the most widely known use is to help people to stop smoking and to increase performance in sports.
The initial consultation is an opportunity for us to meet and for you to feel comfortable with me, the process and what hypnotherapy is all about. We will talk through your issue and what changes you are looking to achieve. We will discuss your expectations for Hypnotherapy and how you want it to help you.
My aim is to use as few sessions as possible to help my clients find lasting solutions and a desirable way forward in their life. Sessions are usually held weekly and the number you require will depend on the nature of your condition and your own level of motivation. Specific phobias and panic attacks are often only 3-4 sessions; other stress related issues may take between 6 - 12 sessions.
