The Old School Hotel & Restaurant
The Old School Hotel is situated in the beautiful village of Port Isaac in Cornwall. The village has been the setting for a number of films and television programmes. Currently the hotel is used as the school in ITV's Doc Martin, with Martin Clunes. The dramatic coastline is a favourite with walkers, swimmers and surfers and Port Isaac is an ideal place from which to explore the surrounding area.

We offer various accommodation from singles to family rooms, all en-suite. The Old School is also licensed for civil wedding ceremonies. The grade II listed Port Isaac Hotel provides free wireless internet access throughout and we also offers residents free onsite car parking.
Services
The Old School Hotel offers 12 rooms, all with individual character. We have 5 kingsize rooms; Latin, English, Biology, Art & Mathematics, 5 small double rooms and 2 single rooms. Most of the rooms have views of either the cliffs to the west, the port to the south or the Atlantic to the north. All rooms are en-suite, have tea & coffee making facilities and breakfast in our restaurant is included in the rate.
Situated on the first floor, the view from 'Latin' looks out to the West across the harbour with one of the best views of any Port Isaac Hotel. A favourite with honeymooners, the views across the harbour are stunning making it a perfect place to unwind and relax. The 'Latin' kingsize is also licensed for wedding ceremonies, making it ideal for small private gatherings.
With the picture postcard view of Port Isaac harbour, 'English' is a large room that will sleep 3. This really is the perfect place to watch everything going on in the Port whilst basking in sunshine pouring through the imposing gothic windows. New Year's Eve wil be a little different this year but we're still serving our fantastic menu in the restaurant!
Situated on the first floor at the North end of the Hotel, The 'Art' kingsize looks out North West through large windows that fill the room with light and colour. In addition, 'Art' shares access to a terrace where you can relax or dine whilst soaking up more of that atmosphere. New Year's Eve wil be a little different this year but we're still serving our fantastic menu in the restaurant!
Whether it is a small private ceremony or a whole hotel booking, every wedding is unique and that is how we approach the arrangements. We like to sit down with every prospective couple and find out exactly what their needs for the day are. From there we can put a plan together containing as much help from us as required to make the day a precious and unforgettable occasion.

It was a lovely friendly place to eat, the food was nice but you paid for the location so a little over priced. We had a cream tea x 2 and cheesey chips(×1), it came to just over £21 would of expected to have paid £15-£17 normally...still nice though.

Would have liked to give 5 stars but I had a bottle of water which refused to open(not hotels fault) but what was is having a hanging rack for clothes right by a window which leaked all the condensation from the window over my hanging cardigan and jeans and jacket leaving them unwearable(luckily I live in cornwall and was going home after 1 night of a surprise visit for my dad)I will not make the same error on our surprise visit for my sister at the end of this month. The staff are friendly and the rooms(single)are adequate for a 1 night stay. The breakfast was very good as was the food in the restaurant

Beautiful setting and ambience, but sadly let done by the quality of the food at lunch time! Basic brown sliced bread and run of the mill pasties! Would have expected nice locally made fresh bread not supermarket cheap bread, could have bought a nice supermarket bread! Same with the pasties, soggy and seemed to have been microwaved. A real let down as the building is beautifully decorated and the accomodation looks amazing!

Arrived at Port Isaac on 19/10/21 and did the usual tourist things, we then walked into the School restaurant and had a meal. This meal is the only one I had that day, and during the nigh I was sick as a dog, vomiting for the rest of the night and most of the following day, I wont mention what else was happening but I am sure you can imagine. I had the crab pasta meal so I am guessing mild food poisoning. On the positive side the staff were very helpful and officiant. The prices are very reasonable and surrounding obviously authentic.

I can't praise this little gem of a hotel enough. We had our here in June 2021, on what can only be described as a perfect day. We dealt with Megan to get everything arranged, which in the midst of a pandemic was a challenge, but we all pulled together and everything went as planned. Megan responded to all of our questions and queries - of which there were many. We were only able to visit once before the big day, because of where we are located and lockdowns, but it was enough to know that this is where we wanted to get married. On the day, the weather was perfect and our guests( and groom) were

We had the English room, which is large, very comfortable, and with a view of the town from one window and of the sea from the side windows. Our queen-sized bed was very comfortable, and in addition, there was a couch and coffee table, a loveseat, a desk and chair, a small fridge, a wardrobe, and a large dresser. With two heaters, we were able to keep the room nice and warm, even though it was pretty cold outside. The bathroom was large and the shower terrific. The location is superb. We had dinner here one night. My sea trout, which is like salmon, was very good. The dining room is cavernous,

Woo-hoo! Talk about dreams being fulfilled and standing in the same spot that Luisa and Martin (from Doc Martin) have been in! I didnt stay at the hotel, and unfortunately, we arrived a bit too early to eat dinner, so cant really provide any reviews relating to either of those things.

What I can however talk about is the thrill and sheer exuberance I felt, walking around in the parking lot of the Old School Hotel, seeing the Doc's house, the lovely Harbor bay below, Bert and Al Large's restaurant - it was like visiting an old familiar house!

The staff here were super friendly, even
