You'll find us in the heart of Padstow, overlooking the harbour where the majority of our produce is sourced from. Whether you want to eat in and enjoy our delicious dishes or dangle your feet over the harbour wall whilst you tuck into a box of takeaway shellfish, the choice is yours.
Mussel Box brings together every day dining in a fun atmosphere. We've stripped back the fuss to pull together a menu of timeless, Cornish dishes that truly capture the vibe of Padstow. The best place for mussels in town, all our seafood is dropped off daily by our friends from across the county, and the burgers are packed with Cornish goodness.
No frills or fuss, just simple, classic cooking using fresh and local ingredients to capture the true taste of Cornwall in a laidback environment. Lunch is a super casual affair, run on a first come first served basis with no reservation required.

Our menus have been designed to allow for take-out as well as dine in. The majority of menu items are available for you to enjoy off the premises sat around the wonderful harbour or taken back to your home with your friends and loved ones dining on the freshest of fish and locally sourced produce. All alcohol will be required to be sold in reusable cups.
Here at Mussel Box we welcome families and cater for the teeniest of tots, as we are totally child-friendly. Our kids' menu is specifically tailored to keep them happy, healthy and fuelled up for the day. Trialled and tested with the local little ones, the children's menu is a fail safe mix of kid friendly seafood and family favourites.

Gorgeous glasshouse overlooking the harbour. We had lobster soup and hake. Both were full of flavours with excellent choice of seasoning, other than that both were a touch too salty.
Service was friendly but might not be consistent. Three tables who arrived well after us got their food well before us. So we thought the service was slow, but it might not be echoed by those 3 tables.

Fantastic Sunday roast with great wine too. Unfortunately they'd run out of Nut Roast by 3pm, but that wasn't a bother to us, as we just ordered the roast without a meat. They brought an extra Cauliflower cheese to compensate, which was great as its a fave part of a roast for us!
Definitely would recommend booking on a Sunday though, especially in The Glass Box. Everyone without reservations were turned away whilst we there, and it's popularity is understandable!

We had a wonderful meal at the Mussel Box last night. Service was superb. Started with the best oysters I’ve ever tasted. Tables are well laid out, food was so delicious and fresh, best mussels we had for a… very long time. There is nothing that I could fault. The wine chilled perfectly, all meals looked and tasted delicious. The waiter (sorry I didn’t ask the name) was so attentive to everyone including a couple with a toddler - the food for the little one arrived quickly whilst mum and dad relaxed - it just felt that everything was taken care of and relaxed. Really lovely food in a chilled environment. Menu is interesting with lots of different flavours combined with fresh fish and seafood.... The chef has clearly picked up some World flavours (I suspect he's been travelling 🌎)

"Easily the best Calamari I've ever had" - A direct quote from my wife after our visit to the Mussel Box.
The service was faultless and one of the waitresses was kind enough to allow us into the restaurant half an hour before the lunch service to secure our table and to enjoy a lovely glass of Chenin Blanc.
Personally, I ordered the large "Curry" Mussels and these were hands-down the best I've ever had. What made these stand out was the evident freshness of the seafood (I'm told these are brought in twice a day from the harbour) and also the seasoning. It makes a welcome change to have a bit

Disgusting customer service response by management.
We had a table booked for 8pm on Monday evening, arrived to a closed restaurant. 4 other families were left in the same situation outside the restaurant,… left with no dinner. After messaging the restaurant we receive these replies, threatening and rude. The email had gone through to the junk mailbox of which I’m sure no one checks regularly.
Disgusted at the response by management, we understand hospitality is in a dire situation, however responding to customers in this was is simply unacceptable.

We took cover in the Mussel Box on a very rainy first day of our break. Having found this place on a dog friendly website we weren't disappointed. It is lovely and has a high end feel to its sleek exterior with the total bonus of us being able to take the dog in! It was a bit wet and damp because of the weather but this was unavoidable and the dog wasn't very impressed at sitting on a hard wet floor but it was warm inside and a glass of sparkling helped! My husband would of given it a 4 on this basis but I loved it! The food was delicious, I had a small mussels portion with a portion of calamari
