The Little Acorns Pre-school is a member of the Pre-School Learning Allianceand have adopted their constitution as defined in 2008. We are a Registered Charity and are run by a parent committee, for the local community, as a non-profit making organisation. Fundraising is an essential part of our Pre-School, enabling us to update toys and equipment as necessary, please support these events as much as possible.
We are based within St Lukes Church Hall, which has 2 halls for the sole use of the Pre-School. Cloakroom and wash facilities are provided for all, and a kitchen is available for adult use only. We have free flow play into a large garden (paved and grass) for the children to play in throughout the year providing great learning opportunities.

Services
The pre-school has a key person system which means that each member of staff has a small group of children for whom they help settle into preschool and build a relationship with parents/carers. They observe and assess children's progress, looking at next steps. This information is recorded on their Learning Journals highlighting your child's stage of development.
The aim of this document is to enable families to see the support that they would receive for their children in our setting. It will provide clear information about what we already have in place to enable each child to achieve to their full potential, as well as offer reassurance to parents/carers in that we value each child as being individual and endeavour to make reasonable adjustments to meet their individual needs.
Involves guiding children to make sense of their physical world and their community through opportunities to explore, observe and find out about people, places, technology and the environment.

Please remember, all parents and staff are invited to attend. Committee members can only remain part of the Committee unless co-opted, whilst their children remain within the Pre-school. Therefore, the committee is ever changing. Because of this the Pre-school needs the support of new parents to follow on from where the existing parents have left.
A newsletter is produced every half term which provides details of the themes to be covered, inviting children to bring in objects from home related to the theme or the letter/number of the week which is displayed in the lobby. This newsletter, together with the notice board, keeps parents informed of all forthcoming events, if you have any queries or suggestions please inform a member of staff who will be pleased to assist.
