Founded in 1975, Buttsbury Pre-school is a place of fun-based learning for children aged two to five years. Over the last 40 years, we have established a reputation for providing a consistent and high standard of care for all children. The pre-school is situated within the grounds of Buttsbury Infant School in Billericay.
Our modern building was opened in 2011 with a bright and spacious playroom and child-friendly, outdoor classroom. Alongside our immaculate educational facilities, we also have a fully-equipped training room for hire and a state of the art sensory room. At Buttsbury Pre-school, our main aim is to provide for the needs of each individual child through stimulating play activities in a safe and caring environment.

Services
Our team have years of collective experience providing children with a wide range of benefits from their skills, enthusiasm and commitment. Staff are all qualified in childcare and the art of Education Through Play and have paediatric first aid training. They continue to update their skills and professional development by undertaking regular training courses.
At the Annual General Meeting in June each year, you will be able to vote for the team of parents (trustees) who are responsible for overseeing the running the pre-school. The 5 trustees safeguard the future of the pre-school. They support the managers to recruit staff, liaises closely with them on pre-school policies, oversees all the financial affairs and endeavour to support the fundraising team to raise funds during the year.
Buttsbury Pre-school is a small charitable business. Fees cover the running costs of the pre-school but it is the fundraising activities organised by the fundraising team that enable us to replace and purchase vital equipment from small play resources such as paint, paper and books to larger items such as outdoor toys, tables and chairs and even annual trips.
To make sure that our provision meets the needs of each individual child, we take account of any special needs a child may have. We work to the requirements of the Special Educational Needs and Disability Code of Practice: 0 to 25 years (2015). The Local Offer is a living and organic resource that will be developed over time with the assistance of our partners, parents and young people.
Our pre-school has a duty under the law to help safeguard children against suspected or actual 'significant harm'. Our employment practices ensure children against the likelihood of abuse in our setting and we have a procedure for managing complaints or allegations against a member of staff.
Our way of working with children and their parents ensures that we are aware of any problems that may emerge and can offer support, including referral to appropriate agencies when necessary, to help families in difficulty. Our pre-school is regularly inspected by Ofsted and complies with procedures and guidelines set by the Essex Children Safeguarding Board.
