St Luke's Rc Primary School
Welcome to St. Luke's Roman Catholic Primary School and thank you for visiting our school website. We hope that you find the information you are looking for and that you get a 'flavour' of the Catholic Life of our school, as well as our recent events and successes. I am very proud to be the Headteacher of such a wonderful school. St. Luke's holds a very special place in my heart.
Services
St Luke's is a Voluntary Aided Catholic Primary School situated in the Irlams O'th Height area of Salford. The children who attend our school come mainly from the parishes of St Luke's and SS Peter and Paul. Sister Veronica Mary C.P. was the first head teacher, who together with four members of staff made up the staff team at that time.
As part of my role as a foundation governor, I am committed to ensuring that the school's Catholic character and ethos are maintained and promoted, so that the children receive the spiritual and moral development to help guide them in the outside world. My association with St Luke's started when my children attended as pupils and it was during this time that I was invited to act as a governor.
The school has been given the opportunity to take part in a project that will run jointly between schools and Greater Manchester Police. This is called Operation Encompass. This means that if police are called out to a domestic abuse incident the school will be notified so that they can care for your child's needs the following day.
At St Luke's RC Primary School, we uphold and teach pupils about British Values which are primarily taught through gospel values. Children are encouraged to work collaboratively, amicably and constructively in group work, conflict resolution strategies, playground leaders school council, circle time.
The government are spending over 450 million on improving physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools over the 3 academic years 2013 to 2014, 2014 to 2015 and 2015 to 2016. This has been extended to 2021. Schools have been given the control over how the money will be spent within the parameters of strict government criteria.
