We teach History at FPS because everyone needs to know where they have come from, and why their lives are as they are. History builds an understanding of a shared past, with knowledge and understanding of events and people who shaped our world, and when those events took place.
The historical skills of enquiry and investigation, using sources as evidence and becoming aware of the veracity and reliability of those sources, is an important foundation to becoming a confident, knowledgeable and successful modern citizen.History enables children to learn how to generate effective and probing questions, and have the skills to seek and find reliable answers.

A very warm welcome to all of our new nursery children and grown-ups. We can't wait to meet every single one of you. My name is Miss Bermingham and I will be your nursery teacher. I taught in nursery last year so I have lots of wonderful ideas for things that we can do together. I love to read stories so if you would like to watch some of my stoires before starting nursery, feel free to have a nosey at my YouTube page.
A very warm welcome to all of the new reception children and parents. We are really looking forward to you starting school in September. Once you have completed your transition in September, the times of the day are 8.50am (doors open) to 3.15pm. Shoes with velcro are advisable as the children can independently change their own footwear.
Tuesday (alternate weeks) change library books PE - Please make sure PE kits (navy shorts, plain white T shirt and black pumps) are in school. Wednesday PE - Please make sure PE kits (navy shorts, plain white T shirt and black pumps) are in school. We had a fabulous first day back. Have a look at the gallery (at the bottom of the page) to see us sharing and playing really well together.
If we follow these 4 school rules we will keep our school a happy and safe place to be for everyone. What a fantastic first week we have had. I am so proud of the way that the children have settled into Year 1. It has been a pleasure getting to know them all and I very much look forward to the year ahead.
Please also make sure that children are not coming into school wearing 'FitBIts' or jewellery - thank you! We will be looking at the school rules and the 4Bs during our assembelies and our PSHCE time. These are on Spelling Shed so make sure you are accessing the assignments that have been set for you each week.
