A high-quality history education will help pupils gain a coherent knowledge and understanding of Britain's past and that of the wider world. It should inspire pupils' curiosity to know more about the past. Teaching should equip pupils to ask perceptive questions, think critically, weigh evidence, sift arguments, and develop perspective and judgement.

History helps pupils to understand the complexity of people's lives, the process of change, the diversity of societies and relationships between different groups, as well as their own identity and the challenges of their time. We create opportunities for real experience through field trips, visits and workshops.

Thank you for taking the time to look at our school website. We hope that the information we share here is useful for our children and parents as well as prospective parents who are considering Brentnall as their child's school. I have been Headteacher here now for over 5 years and I believe Brentnall is a great place for children to learn in a safe and nurturing environment.
Our Governing Board helps us to make our school even better and help Mr. Thompson to keep improving the school ensuring that our children receive the best possible education. Our Governing Board meets regularly to discuss various things and to make sure Brentnall continues to grow in success!

Our Governing Board holds 2 meetings once a term, one to discuss matters linked to the school such as the curriculum, finance, health & safety and the school's people and premises; another meeting to discuss matters from Governor Services which include annual audits and regular updates from the Local Authority. In addition to these meetings, a committee meets twice a year to conduct the Headteacher's performance management.
I applied to become a Governor at Brentnall in order to offer my expertise to the leadership team in driving progress as well as it being an exciting opportunity to develop my own skills. Having worked in Education for just shy of ten years, I have held a variety of posts in schools both in the UK and internationally.
At Brentnall Community Primary School we aim to prepare children for their future life. We want our children to develop a range of skills allowing them to become resilient, reflective, respectful and resourceful lifelong learners. We aim for our children to be captivated by a love for learning, working both independently and collaboratively, in order to achieve and succeed to their full potential.
In order to keep us focused and ensure we get things done each year we write a school development plan. The plan is formed from the completion of our school self-evaluation form where we consider how well we are doing and what we need to do to improve even more. We regularly review this plan to ensure that we achieve our targets within the school year.

This school is a excellent school. The head teacher Mr Thompson is a credit to this school. The school is a safe and friendly environment for adults and children to be. I travel 2 miles to bring my children to be educated in this school. I recommend you try this diverse and community sensitive school for your children to be educated.
