Lively pub. Always seems to be busy.
Fabulous location not far from Sycamore Gap.
Wonderful drive along the Old Military Road to get there.
Excellent real ale brewed on the premises, but they really do need to invest in a more experienced chef.
Food, except for the Fire & Dough pizzas, not always available, is very disappointing.

Located almost on Hadrians Wall - a remarkable piece of Roman history, this popular pub both serves food and has its own micro brewery. The interior is deceptively spacious with a variety of rooms, most offering dining tables. The atmosphere is casual with the young waiting staff kept busy serving both locals and visitors alike. The food was acceptable whilst, in my opinion, being priced on the upper level of pub fare. With very low light pollution the night sky outside can offer dramatic stargazing. Overall, this is a nice spot and an almost essential visit if visiting the Roman remains which
