The Holly Bush is an Old drovers Inn dating back more than 300 years. A welcoming log fire and good company in the bar will make you feel at home with us very quickly. We have a restaurant serving mainly home cooked food sourced as locally as possible, a well stocked bar and real ales. There are six 'Four Star' ensuite bedrooms - three of which can be used as twin or family rooms.
One room is on the ground floor and we also welcome pets. We are located in the beautiful Northumberland National Park (home to red squirrels) surrounded by fantastic countryside and also the Northumberland International Dark Sky Park with very little light pollution and very dark skies.

Services
We have seven en suite bedrooms - all different shapes and sizes and the price reflects the difference. We have been awarded Trip Advisor Certificates of Excellence for 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020 for the overall experience we offer. If you want a quiet stay then choose to be in the cottage adjoining the pub - These are the Gatehouse, Waterhead and Highgreen rooms as well as the single room Redheugh.
We are now offering a full menu of delicious meals, desserts and drinks for takeaway alongside our main evening menu. Please call or email to order. Our Full English, Border Breakfast and vegetarian options are prepared using the finest locally sourced produce and are served seven days a week. Chef's homemade masala curry served with rice and salad - can also be made with vegetables (V, Ve).
Kielder Water & Forest Park brings you nature on a grander scale. The views are bigger, the night sky brighter, the sports wilder and the smiles wider, with things to do for all the family. We are lucky to have some of the darkest night skies in England, making this the perfect place for star gazing.
We are ideally located close to Kielder Forest and Kielder Water & Forest Park. Hexham is approximately 30 minutes away by car and Newcastle and Carlisle are an hour away. Newcastle International Airport is approximately 45 minutes drive. Tarset Valley Taxis provide a friendly and efficient service for local trips and also airport transfers.

What a lovely, warm, welcoming place to stay. A gorgeous little pub in the delightful village of Greenhaugh, just about half an hour from the spectacular Kielder Forest. We had a lovely welcome from friendly staff. The room was on the ground floor in a terrace cottage attached to the pub and was beautifully appointed and spacious. The bed was wonderfully comfortable too. The food was scrumptious, perfectly cooked and presented. We will definitely go there again when we go and explore Kielder properly (our trip this time was an evening event at the Observatory). A truly delightful experience all

We came here during our walk for my friends hen do weekend and it is located in a quaint little hamlet. The pub itself is very cosy and welcoming and the lady behind the bar very kindly helped us out with some directions. We all stayed for a drink and then got on our way. Lovely little pub, very friendly and accommodating staff. Definitely will use this as a watering hole again when in the area.

This was our 3rd stay at The Holly Bush and have stayed in different rooms every time. They are all incredibly clean and the beds are super comfortable. They are situated within easy reach of all local attractions and some lovely walks. The food is always lovely with a good choice on the menu. We would highly recommend for anyone visiting the Northumberland National Parking! The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is just the ticket for a short break!!
