Heathmere Primary School
It gives me great pleasure to introduce the children, staff and governors of Heathmere Primary School. At Heathmere, we set high standards for our children and we want them - by the time they reach Year 6 - to be ready for secondary school. Our school values of Respect, Resilience and High Expectations underpin everything that we do.

We believe these are values that will help children through their school years and also throughout their adult life. Take a moment to look at our vision and mission statement. Learning is at the centre of everything we do at Heathmere, we believe children should be 'Always Learning'. We focus clearly on developing children's skills and understanding in reading, writing and maths.
Services
Heathmere's curriculum vision is for children's learning to be purposeful, empowering them to be ambitious for their future. The curriculum is carefully planned to make links between different subjects, while following the National Curriculum. Children have a daily maths and literacy lesson, as well as sessions focussing on phonics, guided reading and 'SPAG'(spelling, punctuation and grammar).
Reading is a very important part of a child's education at Heathmere. We encourage children to read at home every day to develop the reading skills they learn in school - every Friday, the class that has read the most at home that week are crowned our 'Reading Race' champions and receive a class certificate and trophy.
Writing is an exciting part of a child's education at Heathmere. At Heathmere, our children are taught to write for a range of purposes and audiences in a variety of contexts and genres. Parents can help to support their child's writing by talking to them about the writing skills they are learning in school.
Maths is a vital part of our curriculum at Heathmere. This section of the website will give you more information about Maths at Heathmere, as well as lots of ideas about how you can help your child with their learning at home. Raise standards in numeracy by children learning mathematical structures and applying them efficiently to fluency, problem solving and reasoning tasks.
Our Breakfast Club is open every day of the school week. The Club starts at 7.45am and finishes at 8.45am, in time for children to get to their classes for the start of the school day. A range of hot and cold foods are provided from 7.45am to 8.30am at a cost of 2.00 per child per day. There are also a range of games and fun activities for the children to play with their friends.

I would like to thank you very much for taking care of my daughter Zain Pelal.
You really have a wonderful school. My daughter is new in this country and she didn't speak English when we first came here. But now she's really good in English thanks to you.
