The Massage Practice
This summer marks 10 years of providing massage treatments tailored to your individual needs! Choose from relaxing 'me' time and a soothing swedish massage, a deep tissue treatment that will tackle stubborn tension and niggly aches or a sports massage to treat a particular injury or help prepare you for an event.

The Massage Practice also specialises in pregnancy and post natal massage, where attention is paid to all the areas of your body that are under increased strain during pregnancy and new motherhood. ScarWork is offered as a specialist treatment at The Massage Practice, working on scars from surgeries or accidents to create more comfortable movement, reduce sensitivity, decrease numbness and improve the visual appearance of scar tissue.
Services
Holistic or Swedish Massage aims to treat the individual as a whole, taking into account your physical, emotional and spiritual state. The treatment, as well as the home care advice you will receive afterwards, will reflect this and a free consultation before your first treatment will determine which areas the massage will focus on, and how much pressure is used.
This type of massage employs more focused pressure on points of particular tension and will tackle achy and knotted areas effectively. Plus, it's my absolute favourite treatment to give! Elbows and forearms are used to apply pressure and manipulate muscle tissue. I will work with you throughout the treatment to make sure that the pressure is always comfortable - it should always feel like "useful" or "grateful" pain.
Sport Massage uses advanced manipulation and deep tissue techniques as well as stretches and muscle energy techniques to treat chronic and sometimes acute injuries to muscles, tendons and ligaments. Application of heat or ice might also be used, depending on the injury / condition.

Sports Massage can address muscle fatigue and muscle imbalances, particular areas of tension or adhesions, scar tissue and restricted flexibility in muscles as well as joints. It is proven to speed up recovery between training sessions and from injuries (old or new) and can help to keep you injury free whilst training for an event.
Massage in pregnancy can help you adjust to, and make you more comfortable with, the physical and emotional changes your body experiences. It can improve sleep patterns and energy levels as well as ease tension in strained muscles and soothe an overactive mind. Attention will be paid to all areas of your body that are under increased strain during pregnancy.
What is it? A new form of scar therapy, developed by American therapist Sharon Wheeler (to differentiate it from other forms of scar massage, you might see it referred to as Sharon Wheeler's ScarWork). It's a very gentle treatment, that is given without oils or creams, to help post operative, accident or burn scars.
