I am Amanda Hope and I have been supporting clients in Glasgow for many years, based at GP surgeries, Complementary Health Clinics, Gartnavel Hospital and the BBC. I have also been working with cancer patients and charities since qualifying in 2005. I still work with a Scottish charity and my private practice is in Largs, North Ayrshire.

You will probably know that perimenopause is when our body begins to prepare for the cessation of periods and menopause is the name given to the time when a woman hasn't menstruated for one year. However, to make it simpler we generally refer to this whole transition as menopausal. For some women it can be a time of physical and emotional turmoil that lasts for years, while others experience only a few symptoms for a few months.
Stress is actually a very normal feeling. It is a natural reaction to a challenging situation. Our body reacts to a stressor by releasing hormones which cause our brains to be more alert, our muscles to tense, our pulse to increase, our heart rate to increase and our breathing to quicken. This is how our body protects us and prepares us to cope with difficult situations.
