The Old Post Office
Overlooking Wallingford's market square, the Grade II listed building in St Martin's Street that was once home to the town's prominent post office, first re-opened its doors as an Oakman Inn in 2009. In addition to bearing the same name, The Old Post Office features many of the original elements, including the Victorian counter, and the traditional red post box situated in our front courtyard.

Open from 8am Monday to Saturday and 9am on Sunday, we serve locally and regionally sourced food with a Mediterranean influence in our large, elegant open plan dining room. And whether you're tempted by traditional home comforts, or prefer to indulge in freshly made Calzone, you'll find everything cooked to perfection.
Services
Our expert pizzaiolos craft genuine wood-fired Neapolitan pizzas. The 00 flour, tomato sauce and Fior di Latte mozzarella are all sourced from Naples. The dough is proved for longer resulting in a lighter crust. Cooked in the wood-fired oven, every pizza has a unique smokey flavour and is authentically charred, something that is impossible to replicate with a gas or traditional home oven.
Please note that all of our tables are available to book through our online booking system. When making a booking enquiry, if there isn't a table available at your chosen time and the system doesn't offer you an alternative time then unfortunately we are fully booked. We recommend either trying a different day to see if we can accommodate your booking or alternatively why not explore one of our sister venues.

Brilliant. This lovely old original post office is a beautiful building.
The restaurant is really good, they seem to cater for all tastes and have their own pizza oven, gluten-free pasta, burgers, veggie, kids, allsorts.
Lovely staff and lovely atmosphere, with lots of space. A family favourite, but also good for couples, friends, singles, mature or young.

Visited for the first time today. The food was excellent and our Spanish waiter was extremely helpful and friendly. We had two young children with us and they couldn’t have been more accommodating. We will definitely be visiting again!

I was totaly desapointed about this pub . My and my family we try to have nice dinner today . after 10 minuts looking in to the menu witch the WAITER GIVE TO US , we decided what to eat and drink I wanted to order at the bar… and the very rude and unprofessional bartender told me that the cooks cook only for those who have a reservation tonight. it left me with a bitter taste. I did not recommend.

Went out with my wife, and in-laws visiting us from South Africa and wanted to treat them to some tasty and well cooked food. I had the pulled pork for mains, with the Italian doughnut for dessert. Everything was cooked fantastically. Mains came quickly after ordering, dessert was a bit long to come - but nothing obscene as to ruin the evening. Quality food and ingredients, will definitely eat there again.

We had our Christmas lunch at the OPO. I need gluten free food and I didn’t feel I missed out. Both my husband and I enjoyed the food, it was tasty, hot and there was plenty of it! Delicious! Servers were happy and chatty - We”d definitely return another Christmas Day, fully recommended!

Great place. Kind Staff, found a table in a minute without booking. We also asked to prioritize our son (4yo) dish and it came in 5 minutes. Not to mention the stonebaked pizza, true Italian flavour! We are definitely coming back. Thanks!!!

The Old Post Office is an industrial styled restaurant. Exposed brick, wood and leather, roaring stove fire, stylish bar and an open kitchen all add to the overall cosy, yet dramatic ambience. Though a little expensive, it is worth every penny. The food is delicious and they cater for all tastes and diets, in a simple, but effective menu. A great place to go for a special occasion, date night, anniversary or birthday. Great for a bite to eat at the bar or sitting outside, weather permitting. Highly recommended.

Loved the decor, staff were brilliant and felt really happy to be working there and waiting on their customers.
Food was good, just a little heads up that anything to do with bread (burger bun, garlic bread e.c.t) was a little black on edges where it's got caught in oven.
Other than that great atmosphere and great passiontini cocktail 🤤

First meal out since ristrictions eased and not a crumb was left on my plate (and not because I haven't eaten since lockdown!) the PIZZA'S from the wood fire oven were sensational, certainly recommend, even if u fancied a pasta or burger dish (which were equally as nice!) then be sure to grab a garlic bread starter, not your normal garlic bread that's for sure 🤤
The staff were friendly and did well to provide a good service considering how busy it was, drinks could have come quicker but all around fabulous service with a friendly atmosphere. Music could have been a little louder? Didn't realise
