Using ICT describes the ability to handle and communicate information, solve problems and pose questions through the use of information and communication technologies in a variety of contexts across the curriculum. It includes collaboration within and beyond the classroom; allowing pupils the opportunities to share and exchange work; and exhibit and showcase their learning.
These principles underpin our Early Years curriculum and guide our planning. Well-planned and well-resourced play activities which allow for progression in a child's thinking and understanding can provide the context in which these principles become the reality for all our children. Both outdoor and indoor play is fully developed throughout the school.
The school had a successful bid to release one of its teachers to be trained as a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) teacher by the WELB. This teacher trained various schools including St. Patrick's Primary School Mullanaskea to develop the skills and concepts of STEM. She has now returned full time to the school where STEM initiatives are at the forefront of the TWAU syllabus.
This Area of Learning comprises the subjects of Art and Design, Drama and Music.
