The arrival of your new pet is an exciting time but there is so much to think about during those first few weeks it can often be a little overwhelming. Here's how we can help. Vaccinating your pet is a key step in protecting your pet against life threatening diseases. The diseases it aims to protect your pet against are still seen and thus still pose a constant danger to any unvaccinated animal.
Here at Kings Veterinary Centre we pride ourselves on having the ability to run our own in house puppy socialisation classes run by Kate Baker our Registered Head Veterinary Nurse. Puppy parties are a great way for puppies and new owners to familiarise themselves with the practice environment and allows them to express normal behaviours in a safe, hygienic and monitored manner.
Microchipping has become a routine procedure these days and is often carried out at the time of vaccination, but can be done at any time or age. A tiny chip (approximately the size of a grain of rice) is injected under the skin where it will remain and act as a 'barcode' for your pet's identity.
In the unfortunate event of your pet getting lost or stolen, or if they end up in a rescue shelter or a vet practice, they will be scanned with a microchip reader which will enable the organisation to identify you as their owner and reunite you with your pet.Your pet's microchip will be registered on a nationwide database allowing them to be reunited with you from anywhere in the country.

The most amazing, caring vets. I had to take my dog (Button) to the vets last night as she had swallowed something ahe shouldn't have. Robyn treated her and was so amazing and kept her calm. She even rang this morning to check how she was. The most amazing vets both in Melton and Syston. Thankyou so much. Wouldn't trust anyone else with my baby xx

My dog had a eye infection and after thousands of pounds and 3 years of the newly qualified vets at Kings - they seem to google most of the time while I was at the surgery! seeing the little chap in constant pain sat on his bed was hard but I trusted them. After moving house I changed vets and Jack is pain free after only three visits! I can only say that these ‘pop up’ supermarket mall type vets are just for profit for a bunch of business vets in the background who treat farms as the ‘real stuff’ and leave the rest to the newly qualified and poorly experienced. Shame on them all.
