Fingertips is a well-established, warm, friendly, family-run local preschool and nursery based on two sites. Our settings are happy, nurturing and rich environments where children can explore, discover, learn and grow in confidence. Fingertips was founded in 2010 by Jenny and Shaun who pioneered forest school in Harpenden in 2011.
We found that with these two pedagogical approaches, children developed at an accelerated rate. We have a team of highly qualified and experienced staff and certified level 3 Forest School practitioners. We provide a variety of care for 2 - 5-year olds, 5 days a week for 38 weeks of the year. Services
Fingertips was founded in 2010 by husband and wife team Jenny and Shaun, who shared a passion for working with children. Previously, Jenny had gained quantitative experience, particularly working with children with additional needs in schools. As a result of this, she qualified as a teacher, gaining valuable skills and insight into this fascinating field of work.
At Fingertips, we consider every child to be a beautiful, creative, fascinating and independent individual with an enormous amount to offer the world. We understand that the importance of the early years in a child's development cannot be over-emphasised.
We aim to provide every child with a variety of rich environments to maximise the opportunities for them to explore and develop but more importantly to become independent, confident and happy learners.Our holistic approach considers the needs of the 'whole' child, using our indoor setting, the garden, forest school and our woodland nursery to encompass and captivate every area of the children's imaginations, well-being and learning.

3.00 pm so you can choose your sessions in any way that suits your family and your lifestyle. You can choose a 9.00 am till 12.00 pm in the indoor setting (2-5 year olds) on Monday, Tuesday Wednesday or Friday. When your child is 3 years old you they can access our forest school sessions. This means that you can have a 9.00 am till 3.00 pm day with a morning in the setting and afternoon in the forest.
Fingertips Woodland Nursery is based in the beautiful woodland area of Manland Primary School, where we are able to offer Day-care from 8am till 4pm with the option of an extended hour till 5pm. The layout of our setting is specifically designed to meet all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is the statutory framework that sets the standards that all Early Years providers must meet to ensure that children learn and develop well and are kept healthy and safe. The care and education offered by our setting helps children to continue to do this by providing all of the children with interesting activities that are appropriate for their age and stage of development.

This is the best pre-school ever... Our girls go since very little and they have improve massively in many aspects, confidence, questioning, love for nature, creativity, numbers, behaviour, physical skills, respect and care for each other, they are so happy and relax that they sing (their own lyrics) when doing any activity... Thank you Jenny, Shaun and the Team you are doing a fantastic job... We love FT/FS :)...
