Mount Carmel Kindergarten is the first step on your child's educational journey. It is the bridge between home/daycare and formal schooling at age 5. We firmly believe that happy children make successful learners, so we provide a nurturing environment that incorporates a balance of structure and exploration.
The nursery was established in St Albans in 1985 and has developed a unique approach to early years education. Our curriculum is balanced so that children are familiar with structure and routine but are still offered plenty of opportunities for play, activity, and exploration.

Mount Carmel Kindergarten is very much a family concern. We started the nursery school at our home in St Albans city centre in 1985. Since then our school has grown and we have moved twice. The nursery is now based in two purpose built premises in Marshalswick which are known as 'Kinder Lodge' and 'Sandpit House'.
Mount Carmel Kindergarten is not like other nursery schools. Our early years practice is based on years of experience, fine tuning what works to get the best from all children. Mount Carmel Kindergarten is a family run nursery school and our staff form part of this family. We pride ourself on the diversity of our staff team and the broad range of experiences they bring to the setting. Lucia established Mount Carmel Kindergarten with her husband Franco in 1985. As a mother of ten children herself she is considered, by many, as a guru in the Early Years sector.
Communication is key in any relationship, and none more so than the relationship you have with your child's nursery school. At Mount Carmel Kindergarten we use the most up to date Nursery Management Software to improve communication and enhance the nursery experience for you. Famly is a digital platform that provides us with an all-in-one solution for communication, learning journals, and invoicing.

Positive: Professionalism, Quality
Mount Carmel has been phenomenal for my child. He can't wait to run in every morning and has the best time there. The staff are so caring and attentive and clearly know what they are doing. The Famly app is also an amazing tool the teachers use to provide photos and updates often.

We have been so impressed with Mount Carmel at every step of the way. What they have achieved is outstanding; the team of professionals are approachable, full of energy, caring and my daughter adores them all. We are thrilled with her development and she surprises and amazes us with what she has learned from her teachers. The structure of the day, the setting and the activities are wonderful, the children are never bored, they’re always exploring, learning and having fun. We get regular updates on her progress but also when she’s just having fun and enjoying herself. I would thoroughly recommend

Both my daughters have gone to Mount Carmel, and I already have my son on the list for Sept 2017. It truly is an amazing nursery, with wonderful staff and excellent facilities. Both my girls have loved the country walks, weekly cooking classes, and finding something for Show and Tell each week. The Christmas Nativity will have you smiling with pride and crying tears of joy. My daughter is due to graduate this July and I am dreading the day she does. I wish she could stay at Mount Carmel forever! My daughter was at a very good nursery but there is no comparison to Mount Carmel. The small groups mean that the teachers really get to know the children and care about them not just for them. I have seen my daughters confidence grow and she is already ahead of her age with her writing skills and is ready for school. The grounds are wonderful and this offers children a traditional setting that allows children to be themselves. Every day is different and being a family run

We feel so lucky to have found Mount Carmel for our daughter (who sadly leaves next week to start infant school). The staff, learning ethos and facilities are second to none. The teachers are all so nurturing and it really feels like a family. The nativity, graduation, woodland walks, cooking and show and tell have been particular highlights and the online learning journal is a great way to see what they've all been up to. I'm so glad we have our 1year old down to start in September 17 !

Mount Carmel has been the most amazing nursery for my son who has just finished his first year. He has blossomed in such a short space of time with the help of the wonderful teachers. It just feels like coming home when you go to Mount Carmel and it instantly made me feel at ease when I was looking for a nursery for my son. It has such a family feel and I'm so excited for my daughter to join in September, she already knows the staff and the nursery so well and has always been welcomed by everyone. Couldn't recommend it highly enough, it exceeded all my expectations of what a nursery should be.
