Allowing children to take the lead in the direction of play, and control over their own experiences, builds confidence and develops independent thinking and learning. We recognise the individual and diverse ways that children develop and learn, and plan for each child. My daughter has attended preschool at Ashton Keynes since she was 2.5 years and absolutely loves it.
We chose AK preschool even though it was not our most local, but because it felt a calm, welcoming safe environment for our daughter who is quiet and shy. She enjoys every single day there and cannot wait to go. The staff are amazing and know each child so well. The activities are exciting and child led.

Services
We are a village Pre-school taking up to 18 children a session, between the ages of 2yrs 6 months to 5yrs. The children who attend are mostly from Ashton Keynes, with some coming from the surrounding villages. Our emphasis is learning through play. Allowing children to take the lead in the direction of play, and control over their own experiences, builds confidence and develops independent thinking and learning.
To be a positive and welcoming setting, providing stimulating and inspiring learning opportunities, in a safe and secure environment. For all our staff to be friendly, well trained, with the best interests of the children at heart. To meet the needs of each individual child, encouraging independence and building confidence, by providing the opportunity to make their own choices through play in a relaxed atmosphere.
SEND provision at Ashton Keynes Pre-School reflects the new Code of Practice and updated guidance regarding legal requirements surrounding our duty to provide for children with SEN under Part 3 of the Children and Families Act 2014. All staff understand and are continuously aware that children with additional needs are more vulnerable and safeguarding those children is of utmost priority.
This has been the perfect preschool setting for my son. The preschool team show genuine interest in every child and can always provide specific examples of what a child has done during their session. The support they provide to both children and parents is excellent.
The free flow layout is fantastic for allowing children to play and learn in the best way for them and I have found the smaller setting invaluable in teaching my son to share and interact with other children.What this small pre-school does for children is nothing short of amazing. The staff build the children's confidence ready for school and prepare them with letters and sounds, creative drawing and communication skills to name a few.
