The Early Years Foundation Stage is the foundation on which all future learning is based. Like any other foundation it needs to be strong and secure and, because it will be such a big part of your child's life, it needs to be safe and happy too. Choosing a nursery for your child is one of the most important decisions you will make.
This website is designed to help you make that choice. Every good nursery has its own ethos and you may well find that, as soon as you come through the door you can feel it. As you walk around you can hear snatches of conversation, laughter and singing. You can see staff who are involved with the children, chatting, playing, encouraging.

Lydia has been part of the nursery for most of her life, qualifying to NVQ 3 before going to college, and working at Monkton during holidays while she completed her degree. She also worked at different nurseries in London while she was an actress. Despite having great fun and success in roles on television, at Bristol Old Vic and a year in New York, she wanted to return to Liverpool and settle down.
Our vision is of a nursery which is a safe, happy and aspirational place where children relish each day and what it brings, and where acquiring knowledge and skills is such fun that it leaves every child with a vivid imagination, a warmth and a curiosity about the world and a lifelong love of learning.
Safeguarding is the action that is taken to promote the welfare of children and protect them from harm. The safety of your child is paramount. All of our staff are trained in safeguarding and we have two Designated Safeguarding Officer's on the premises - Eve McGowan and Margaret Hill. All staff are DBS checked and visitors are signed in and out and are never allowed to be alone with the children.
We will invite you to introduce your child to his or her new surroundings gradually. You can leave them for short periods to get acquainted with their Keyworker and new playmates. You should talk about the nursery when you are at home, discuss the activities he/she enjoyed, call the staff by their name, and look forward to the next visit.
Our aim is to provide a structured daily routine where every child feels secure, confident and valued. We are proud of our warm, happy family atmosphere, and how we introduce the children to learning through play, without pressure. Children explore our resources at their own pace in a stimulating environment which encourages natural curiosity.
