Services
Available from 7.30am to 6.00pm for children 3 months to 5 years. Providing a holistic approach, this service is based on sound knowledge of child development. Initially the children are grouped according to their age however we acknowledge that children are individuals, developing at their own pace.
Footsteps Nursery opened in 2004 and operates from a purpose built building located in the Minto Centre, Westfield. Since Footsteps Nursery opened its doors in 2004 we have continued to develop, meeting the demands of our children and families by enhancing our provision. Within the ethos of our nursery we have sensitively expanded our original provision both indoors and out.
We try to keep it homely, we have a comfy sofa, cushions and warm and gentle colours (recent research suggests bright bold colours have an over-stimulating effect on young children). This area is designed to encourage children to become active independent learners, providing equipment that will satisfy their natural need to explore and discover for themselves.
Footsteps Nursery prides itself on its healthy eating initiative. During the recent Ofsted inspection the inspector highlighted healthy living and enjoying a healthy lifestyle as a major strength of the nursery. Footsteps Nursery employs a Healthy Eating Coordinator and a Healthy Eating Practitioner who plan and cook with fresh local produce on a daily basis.
Children get the most out of any early years setting if they are happy and feel secure. Although research has highlighted the emotional vulnerability of babies and toddlers it has also shown that they are receptive learners, particularly if they are cared for by highly qualified adults they feel attached to, in an environment which encourages a sense of belonging and mirrors the home.
