Cathkin Braes Golf Club
The brilliant Tom Watson once said a great golf course not only frees but challenges a golfer's mind and the stunning setting of Cathkin Braes offers the perfect environment to do both. Founded in 1888 and later redesigned by the acclaimed James Braid, it is the oldest golf course in Glasgow.

The 6200-yard, par 71, moorland course is, despite its name, relatively flat but there are some tricky tree-lined holes, such as the par-3 fifth where you must overcome a loch to reach the well-protected green.Although situated only five miles from the centre of Glasgow, it is in the middle of the countryside and widely regarded as one of the best inland courses in the West of Scotland.
Services
The clubhouse features full bar and catering facilities offering Lunch, Dinner, Bar Snacks. There are spacious traditional lounges and the large Locker Rooms have showers with towels provided. The Club has a 20 acre Practice Ground within 30 yards of the 1st tee, a chipping green with bunkers and a large putting green close to the first tee.
Although only 379 yards this testing opening hole is stroke index 3. A strong drive required here and be sure to keep your approach shot to the right-hand side of the green, miss left and you will have a testing up and down. A short par 4, good line off the tee is the mound on the left side of the fairway approx 60 yards short of the ditch which can come into play.
20 Acre practice area. Plans in place for a significant financial investment to turn our practice area into an Academy. 30% off the price of balls for the driving range at Mearns Castle, this is based on opening up a range card, and topping it up with a 25 initial credit. Cathkin Braes Golf Club is a member club of The Association of James Braid Courses.
We are currently welcoming guests Monday, Wednesday, Friday and after 1pm on a Sunday to play our magnificent course now ranked no 2 in the Glasgow area. Please contact our Professional Stephen Bree on 0141 634 0650 or email proshop@cathkinbraesgolfclub.co.uk for information and any update on this situation.

Thoroughly enjoyable but testing course. We got lucky with the weather as the wind got up over the last 3 holes.

We played the course today.
Fantastic layout, immaculate tees and fairways, with the greens being about the best we've played on all year.
Well done to all for having the course in pristine condition at this time of year.
Will definitely play here again.

Really enjoyed the course which was in great condition. A lot of nice holes and good views. A warm welcome and good food when we came off. We were lucky enough to have a bit of sun to sit outside with a cold beer. First class, thanks.
