Service very slow. Waited 30 minutes and had to ask for drinks. 50 minutes before pre-ordered food arrived. I had ordered plaice - the fish was well cooked but arrived with one spoon of mash. Not a vegetable in sight, although the fish was resting on a warm lettuce leaf and was scattered with silverskin onions!! Very uninspiring. Sadly, not rushing to return.

For a rural area this is a fabulous place to dine. Superb quality of food, relatively simple menu but it has a refined and special feel about it. It get better every time I visit.

I'm very local so unlikely to ever stay here but visiting friend and I tried it for first time since change of ownership and refurb. We had an excellent single course lunch and would definitely use for a local meal out again.

Just had a refurb and under new ownership. Lovely helpful staff, all very smiley especially Velvet.
Internally it has a very nice colour palette and is done to a high standard. We only had drinks as food wasn't available (opening this weekend)
Externally there is lots of outside seating and the gardens are well kept.
The rooms were not ready when we went but they are just being finished off. The location is a hidden gem and it will make a lovely place for a getaway especially with the hot tubs and sauna available.

Very nice place to stay. It has been decorated and furnished to a high standard. They would do better if breakfast was included in the price of the room. Great selection of tea and coffee available in the room.

Our stay was five weeks after reopening from a refurbishment by new owners and the main building was beautifully done, very nice. Our room had been newly finished and it was very nice and comfortable. The food was good, decent bacon rather than that shoot peas through type, and a range of different drinks on offer. The outside is smart, nicely lit and has an area for residents. Dogs are fully welcomed except in the restaurant but fine in the bar/reception area. This new venture had its problems whilst there due to a number of things, however the staff were very helpful, especially Velvet and they

We had a lovely meal with friends. The food was excellent and the service was very good. Hettie really looked after us and had great recommendations on the dessert menu. We will definitely be back.
