Services
Located in the centre of Blyth, Northumberland, we have transformed a building from an old first school into a modern, purpose-built nursery, after-school & daycare provider for children from newborn to twelve years of age. As a registered childcare facility, we meet the national standards set by OFSTED our governing body and all of our staff have been suitably DBS-checked and gone through a rigorous recruitment procedure.
Located in the heart of Blyth, the Albion Activity Centre brings a wealth of healthy and active leisure opportunities to the local community. The Albion Activity Centre opened to the public in Spring 2014 on the site of the former St Andrews RC School. Since then, the building has been fully occupied by local businesses operating under a shared commitment to community values and active living.
All of our playrooms in all of our nurseries have been modified and adapted to a very high standard. The rooms have been planned and resourced to accommodate the needs of every child, and our staff are well deployed to support children in every area of their development. Our aim is to encourage your child in all areas of development by way of exciting, stimulating activities on a daily basis.
With stories, songs and a little imagination, What a Hoot play sessions are great fun for both children and staff! As well as following the Early Years Foundation Stage, we also promote a creative curriculum - this includes our very own What A Hoot Stories, Songs and Imagination drama sessions.
This is a totally unique and original forty-five minute drama experience for children of all ages, encouraging imagination and cultivating a love for stories, songs and dance, and will be delivered to all of our children every half term by our trained staff. We include our very own stories and songs in our daily routine, bringing something extra special to the children's day.

We had the worst experience here, my son really didn't enjoy the time he spent here. we spoke to them about our problems and got told to move him schools. he is now going to a different nursery and they are great. he is a much happier child. I would not recommend what a hoot to anyone anymore after the attitude I got from some of the staff.

My son started nursery in September and he loves it. The girls are so friendly and really helped settling him in. Patsy is lovely as well very knowledgable and approachable. My son is happy to go and waves me goodbye and I know he will have an action packed day with activities and outdoor play time. He enjoys the food and they have a really varied… menu and although he can be quite picky they ensure he doesn’t go hungry. The app they use to update you on your child’s day is great, it shows naps, snacks, lunches, breakfasts, nappy changes, accidents. It’s really helpful

Best thing I ever did put my daughter in whatahoot. The team are fantastic. Patience, kindness and understanding. Cant thank them all enough for what they have done. My daughter has came along way while been… there she was shy wouldn't interact with anyone outside her family and because of whatahoot it has given her the confidence that she's needed. She has learnt alot in the 2yrs she has been there. Such as numbers, alphabet, shapes and so much more. Everytime i picked her up she always had a huge smile on her face telling me what she has done. I would highly recommend. We will miss you

Our son has been attending What a Hoot since last September for two mornings a week and he thoroughly enjoys it. It took him a few weeks to settle in but all the staff were excellent in identifying what made him happy and settle better so now he confidently waves me goodbye when I drop him off.
We receive excellent feedback every day on everything he has been doing at nursery, photos of him taking part in activities and details of what (and how much) he has eaten which is really helpful.

What a hoot are excellent. I was very worried about leaving my daughter at a nursery as she didn't get on with any children and she was very shy . She now has lots of wonderful friends including the staff . The rooms are full of different toys as is there outdoor yard . Every staff member is full of smiles , every child I see is more hen happy to go in and play . It's a very cosy atmosphere I wouldn't want to send my daughter anywhere else.
