My name is Ian and I am the Manager at YMCA Day Nursery. I have a passion for working with young children, providing a positive environment and helping them as individuals to develop. I have been fortunate enough through my experiences to work with children in some of the poorest parts of the world which has inspired me to ensure children have the best start in life.
The YMCA Nursery was carefully designed by architects, childcare professionals and parents to get the maximum potential from the space giving it a vibrant and unique layout. The Baby Room is a large open space for 0-2 year old's to explore and move around in.
The Baby Boom staff have created stimulating and inviting areas which include a black and white area, as research has proven that black and white contrasts register powerfully on a baby's retina and send the strongest visual signals to their brain.They have also created a heuristic area full of everyday objects for babies to explore and to promote their curiosity, that they may not normally have access to.

Our weekly Parent and Toddler Groups have recommenced with term time sessions taking place on Tuesdays and Fridays, 1:00pm-2:30pm. Each session allows an opportunity for parents to socialise in a safe environment while our expert Nursery staff encourage the children to make friends and have fun. The Parent & Toddler Group will be 3.00 entry which includes a space in the YMCA main hall with a play station mat, toys, tea, coffee and cake.
At YMCA Day Nursery our prime responsibility is the welfare, safety and well being of all children who attend the setting. All staff have a duty to protect and safeguard all children. There are many aspects to safeguarding children and the main thing many people tend to think about is making referrals to children's services and working with social workers.

We love YMCA nursery! Since our daughter has been in lockdown for most of her life she has never really spent any time away from us or met new people so we were really worried about her starting nursery. The team here has made it so easy for her to meet new people and have fun, she loves coming and it’s such a friendly atmosphere for her to be in.… She has really came out of herself and is a lot more sociable. Ian and the team are lovely and so easy to talk to and help with anything you need. The communication is fantastic. Rivvie has grown quite fond of Jennifer and mentions her at

Amazing nursery and amazing staff. My daughter has been coming since she was 3 months old and absolutely loves all of the staff, she has came on leaps and bounds and its great to see her relationship with everyone at YMCA. Big thanks to everyone at YMCA for all their help and support through the pandemic they were amazing.

This is the most amazing nursery I’ve had the pleasure of having an experience with. They gave us so much routine and stability in these horrible times. My son started her in June and it’s amazing how much he has come along, he is a bright kid to start with and the staff here are more than happy to help him progress and are extremely patient with him!! Not a bad or negative thing to say about The YMCA and will definitely be sending my baby here too!

My son started here earlier in the year. He came on leaps and bounds within a couple of weeks. His key worker was lovely and informative. The other staff are always so welcoming. Even though my son left in July for primary school the YMCA day nursery will always hold a special place for both of us. Many happy memories and he made some lovely friends here.

My daughter started here in january and she absolutly loves it , shes came on leaps and bounds and is so confident and happy here and learning so much .The staff are brilliant so caring and kind and happy to have a chat if you have any concerns and happy to tell you how your childs day has been . The tapestry app they use is great i love to log in and see pictures and videos of what shes been up to and how she is developing . They have put so much effort and care and thought into everything to do with whats available to the children to play with their surroundings teachings fun and care and safety
