Why choose Mill Strand Integrated School & Nursery? Why do we do what we do? Why do we exist? These were just some of the questions we asked ourselves in 2015 as we embarked on articulating our Vision and core values, identifying what matters most for our children and young people and ensuring that we remain focused on the key foundations on which to build a positive, rewarding and successful life of learning.
Towards the end of the 2015/16 academic year, John O'Dowd MLA, as Minister for Education, confirmed a new build for Mill Strand Integrated School & Nursery under Fresh Start Agreement Funding. A 'Project Board' consisting of representatives of school & Board of Governors is currently working with the Department of Education to complete the planning phase of this exciting new development.
We believe in every child, in their dreams and aspirations to live, happy, productive, prosperous and fulfilling lives. In doing so we strive to enable our pupils to do great work, to love what they do, empowering them to have control over their own destiny and to achieve great things.
We do this, by providing a safe, nurturing, stimulating and engaging educational environment, one that facilitates high quality, child centred teaching and learning, one that meets the needs of every child; an education that can provide them with the skills, knowledge, understanding and disposition to grow and develop, not only to realise their potential, but also their aspirations.

We want our children and future generations to grow and develop in a society that is peaceful, prosperous, accepting, inclusive, shared, rich and diverse; one that is united in common purpose and mutual respect, not broken and divided by religion and the past.
We believe that this is best achieved in Integrated Schools, with the balance and ethos to provide our children and young people with the safe space, structures, relationships and experiences- all day every day, necessary to foster meaningful, positive change and maximise opportunities to create a better, vibrant, prosperous and harmonious future for generations to come.
