We welcome your child to St. Joseph's and assure you that we will do our best to make the years that he or she spends with us happy and rewarding. St. Joseph's is a Catholic maintained school, which has a nursery unit as an integral part of its management structure. We have a caring school where the whole school community shares a common goal, which is to do the very best for all the children in our care.
As a Catholic school, our overriding aim is to establish and foster Christian values for life. To do this, it is essential that we work in partnership with all our parents and the parish community. Indeed the success of our school depends on good co-operation between pupils, parents, governors and staff.

Services
St. Joseph's School dates back to 1937. In earlier years the school was known as 'The Public Elementary School'. In 1963 it changed to 'St. Joseph's Boys & Girls', when the canteen and toilets were built on. Up until this point the children would have travelled home for their lunch and used outdoor toilet facilities.
The ethos of St. Joseph's is that of a Catholic School, where the partnership of the home, school and parish community is of paramount importance, with each playing their distinctive role to co-operate in the Religious Education and development of the children.
Daily prayer and reflection form an integral part of life in every classroom, as Religious Education permeates all aspects of school life and reflects the values, attitudes, beliefs and practices of our Catholic faith. These, set in the context of a Rights' Respecting School, form the basis of all the relationships in the school and beyond.

We would like to introduce the 2020/2021 School Council. The first School Council meeting has taken place and we look forward to hearing lots of ideas from the children this year to help improve our school. We have already seen the new playground markings implemented this year after the school council had lobbied to have the playground enhanced and a huge thank you to the PTA for their support.
The School Council has been proactive again this academic year. A range of issues have been tabled, arising from class meetings and the class representatives considered a number of priorities. Congratulations to all the children for contributing to class meetings and tabling such relevant motions through their elected representatives.
