The Creel is a cosy wood panelled Scottish restaurant nestled between the two historic harbours of Dunbar. The perfect retreat after a windswept walk around the wilds of the John Muir country park and beaches or checking out the Kittiwakes that take residence in Dunbar castles craggy ruins for the summer months.
The famous Dunbar Championship Golf course is very close to hand and the local shops on the high street are only a stones throw away. The train link from Edinburgh Waverly to Dunbar Station only takes 25 minutes and also we have plenty of street parking outside of the Creel. The food is inspired by East Lothians picturesque coastline where a clean modern-rustic style has been created.

We visited The Creel on the 14th February 2020 for a Valentine's Day meal and had a table booked for 6.30pm. However, the doors remained closed until just after 6.30pm where we, along with another couple waited outside in very cold conditions. This, is quite ridiculous and shows little 'Customer Focus'. Upon entering the restaurant it was cold and despite asking, no attempt was made to increase the heating. Moreover, after ordering a £37 bottle of red wine the wine was served very cold and not appetising in the least. Weren't the owners aware of serving red wine at an appropriate temperature?

Tasty dishes, gorgeous flavours, yum! Your chef is amazing! Been for dinner and was blown away with the flavours and the freshness of the ingredients in our dishes. Wow, we left happy. Starters were perfect, mains were perfect couldn't fault this place. I never imagined cod could be so tasty and delicious. Everything cooked to perfection from scratch so be patient you won't regret it. We booked again to return a second night but sadly had to cancel but we will return! Wonderful place brilliant service with extras and atmosphere. Thank you!

Popped in to Dunbar to find somewhere for a bite to eat whilst on our way to Fonab Castle for the weekend. Found the Creel a few minutes from the high Street. Ordered the Shellfish soup and toasted sandwich combo and was only expecting a fairly normal snack taste experience. How wrong could we be. Out comes our food, two quite small bowls of soup and very luxurious looking toasted sandwiches along with some garnish and decorations. Biting into my cheese and onion toasty my eyes rose to see my wife doing likewise. They tasted amazing. These had been made with love. Next step the soup. What an amazing
