We operate from sites in Bridgwater and Burnham-on-Sea, covering an area stretching from the Mendips to the Quantocks and from the Bristol Channel out across the Somerset Levels. Blake Vets can trace its roots back to around 1895 and originally had its premises in Bridgwater town centre before moving to its current purpose-built surgery on Showground Road, just off Taunton Road in 2004.

We have an experienced team of vets and modern facilities which include a full range of clinical services. Our out-of-hours service is located at our Bridgwater surgery. Being conveniently located just 2 minutes from Junction 24 of the M5, it is central to the practice catchment area with most clients no more than a 20-minute drive away.
As you are probably aware, Castle Vets and Blake Vets have been part of the much larger IVC Evidensia organisation since 2019. As a result of the recent retirement of Jaan Bartels from Castle Vets, both Castle Vets and Blake Vets are now being managed by Blake Vets Group, with all out of hour's emergencies being handled at the Showground Road surgery.

With veterinary medicine employing expensive medical techniques and medication, and with pet owners caring more and more about their pets' health, pet insurance is becoming increasingly popular.
If your insurer asks you to complete your claim online, what we need from you will be greatly simplified. Please note the process may differ between insurers. Attach the clinical history, along with a copy of any payments you've made (you do not have to keep any receipts). Please note the processing of direct claims is discretionary and based on the relationship between the insurer and the clinic.

Can't recommend highly enough, so good with our two cats, they're happy to answer questions and they always explain treatment plans and choices. Our boys love the attention they get. We also buy food from them which is 10% off with the pet plan and had them neutered which was 20% off with the petplan which made extremely good value.

Brilliant service, friendly staff and well organised parking and appointment service. First time we've visited in about 15 years as our usual vet is closer to us. They are now in partnership with Blake Vets and after our dog took ill, we're offered an immediate appointment with them. First class service and support, our poorly dog is now back to full health thanks to them and a major operation.
