A very warm welcome to Shinfield Infant and Nursery School. I am Mrs Lauchlan and have the great pleasure of being Headteacher at this lovely school. Whether you are looking for a school or nursery for your child, or are already a parent of a child starting with us, I hope that you find our website helpful and informative.
Please contact the school office to arrange a visit, or come on one of our Open Mornings, held at 9.30am on the first Thursday of each month in term time. Our Nursery offers excellent facilities indoors and outdoors and high quality learning experiences. Applications are made directly to the school.
The Trustees of the Circle Trust became the Admissions Authority for the school. The admissions arrangements for all mainstream academies and free schools must comply with the School admissions code and the School admission appeals code. Admissions for Foundation Stage entry for 2020 - 2021 need to be made to your home local authority.
We aim to develop and nurture skills for positive life-long learning behaviours through encouraging independence, resilience and challenge. We want our children to have the self-belief to develop their talents and marvel at the incredible; fostering a love of learning. We plan quality first hand experiences that inspire and immerse children in their learning through creativity and problem solving.
The ethos of our Nursery is that children learn best when they are interested, inquisitive, motivated and engaged in play. We use 'in the moment planning', a model developed by Anna Ephgrave. Whatever captures a child's attention and imagination is where the learning will grow and evolve. The adult's role is to facilitate the next steps to challenge further learning through sustained shared thinking.

A caring, inclusive, accepting and supportive school with a loving and respectful attitude towards children and learning. Mrs. Turner, the headteacher, does an inspiring job leading the most admirable teachers and staff. They all somehow find a way to see and make EACH AND EVERY child feel unique and special. A beautiful atmosphere for children to learn and grow into friendly, motivated, curious, contributing, kind human beings. I'm lucky and greatful to have the opportunity to send my son there. Thank you!
