Thank you for visiting The Wigwam Day Nursery. Our family-run nursery is the only day nursery in Reading that's open 7am - 6pm (later finish available by prior arrangement with manager). We have places for babies from 6 weeks until they go to school. Our wonderful environment reflects a calm, homely space filled with authentic treasure to find and natural resources to explore.
All of this promotes our vision of enabling children to have a love of learning, supporting their transitions through their developmental stages and their move to school. In order to have more of a family feel about the nursery and allowing children access to more than one room we group the children into two groups - under 2 year olds and over 2 year olds.

Services
I have worked in Early Years settings for over 12 years since I first completed my Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education at Oxford college. I had always wanted a career within childcare, and it was during my placements in Early Years settings, that I developed a true passion for working within this sector.
The Wigwam Day Nursery and Preschool in Reading is rated as 'good' in all areas by Ofsted. Our first Ofsted report as the new owners of the fantastic Wigwam Nursery has been published and we're delighted with the views from the Inspector. Ofsted found that the children at our Reading Nursery "feel safe and secure as they happily play and explore in the inclusive environment".
At The Wigwam day nursery we pride ourselves on making a safe and fun environment as this equals happy children which we all love to see. Tiny Turtles is the starting room for babies. We pride ourselves in being a home from home. The room is light and airy with cosy areas and plenty of sensory and exploratory learning through play.

Your child's home routines are adhered to so there is a smooth transition from home to nursery.
When your baby is transitioning from Tiny Turtles to Scampering Squirrels, as much care and attention is given to this move as it is from when children first join the nursery from home. We know that moving rooms is a big step, as you and your baby would have built strong relationships with the key person and the team.

Our daughter joined the Wigwam family when she was 1 year and 6 months old. She had just moved to the UK from India and everything looked different to her then - the people, language, the food and the place. Wigwam did a sterling job of helping her settle into the new environment. She is three and a half today and she loves her carers and friends at Wigwam - they have guided and trained her to navigate her way through a community setting. They also do week long projects that gives the kids play with the idea long enough to get a feel for it. The 7-7 open hours also helps us parents not worry too
