Counselling and therapy are interchangeable terms that entail the use of talking therapies. They aim to enhance people's well-being and bring effective change into their lives. Counselling and therapy involve a process in which clients are not given advice but they have the opportunity to find their own insight and understanding of their problems.
It can be great relief to share worries and fears with someone, the counsellor/therapist, who can acknowledge feelings, emotions and thought processes as well as identify ways to make positive changes. Services
I am an ICO registered practitioner. I abide by the ethical framework of the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) and of the BPS (British Psychological Society), which means that I am committed to continual professional development and regular supervision to ensure I can offer excellence in my practice.
I offer individual counselling/therapy to young people, adults, couples and families. I integrate elements of different counselling theories and approaches, which allows me to tailor the help and support I can give you to your own personal needs. I use an integrative approach to therapy, which means that I draw from approaches such as Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Systemic Therapy and Mindfulness.
After our first conversation either by email or on the phone, what you can expect is an appointment for an initial consultation, which can give me a sense of what has brought you to counselling/therapy. The first appointment also gives you an idea of whether you are comfortable talking to me so you can decide if we can work together, and if so, your aim will become my aim.
