To create enthusiastic and inquisitive historians who can apply their knowledge and understanding of the past to ask perceptive questions, think critically, weigh evidence, sift arguments, and develop perspective and judgement. Children acquire historical knowledge and skills through our Cornerstones Curriculum which is delivered through a variety of in-depth topics across the year.
Some topics will have a greater history focus than other topics but these will be balanced throughout the year. In Key Stages One and Two, history lessons consist of a mix of class teaching and inquiry-led work within small groups or individually. Children will communicate their findings in a range of ways.

I am delighted to welcome you to the St Lawrence Church Of England Primary School website. Please take some time to look through the website and watch our welcome video to find out more about the school. If you have any queries please contact us via email info@stlawrenceprimary.co.uk or phone us between 8.30am and 4.30pm during the week.
Here you will find all the information and links you will need to apply for your place at St Lawrence C of E Primary School. This link takes you to Surrey County Council Schools admissions page for Primary and In year applications. We are lucky to be surrounded by so many good quality secondary schools that our pupils move on to and enjoy many successes as they head towards GCSE and beyond.
Children, parents and staff have many opportunities for their voices to be heard at St Lawrence Primary School. Democracy is central to how we operate. An obvious example is our School Council.
The election of the School Council members reflects our British electoral system and demonstrates democracy in action: candidates make speeches, pupils consider characteristics important for an elected representative, pupils vote in secret using ballot boxes etc. Made up of one representative from each class, the School Council meets regularly to discuss issues raised by the different classes.

We realise this is an important decision and hope to give you as much information as you would usually receive. Unfortunately visits and tours of the school are not able to go ahead due to the current restrictions. Please watch our Reception class video below. If you have any questions please do get in touch by email info@stlawrenceprimary.co.uk or phone us 01276 858336.
We do not have sub committees apart from the statutory ones required - Pay Committee & Headteacher's Appraisal Committe. These two sub committees do not have or require a chair. For the academic year 2020-21, the full governing body of St Lawrence C of E (aided) Primary School meets once each half term and operates in a flat structure with all members attending the half termly meetings.

I went to this school 2010-17 and there were some highs and lows but all in all I couldn’t have asked for a better primary school. I made so many amazing friends there as well. We went on loads of school trips that provided me with memories that’ll last forever. There was not one teacher there who didn’t care about every single student and every issue was dealt with really well. I miss St. Lawrence sooo much!
