Services
James Braid (Five times Open Champion and respected course architect) was engaged to survey and design a golf course on Buchanan Castle Estate. The ground extending below the remains of the old Buchanan House, which had been used as an exercising area for horses, was to become a golf course of championship length.
It is a truly top class Scottish golf course designed by James Braid in 1936 offering players of all levels an intriguing but fair golfing challenge. The course, once a training ground for racehorses, lies on the plain of the River Endrick with magnificent scenic backdrops which the Conic Hill, the Highlands and Luss Hills.
Buchanan Castle Golf Club offers excellent facilities for visiting parties and your day can be tailored to suit your specific requirements. Start your day with some coaching from our PGA Professionals, hit some balls from our Driving Range then enjoy your round on golf on our scenic parkland course.
The Ladies Senior Team Open follows at the end of May, Thursday 27th; this is a Tri-Am 3 BBB and the minimum age this time is 50. The maximum handicap is 36. The Gents Open in mid June, Sunday 13th, for players 18 years and over is a team event and the format is 3 man Texas-Scramble. The maximum handicap is 18.
He became one of the founders of the Professional Golfers' Association (PGA) and later a president. He was also a distinguished course designer, gaining a reputation for creating well laid out courses. Notice the Stymie Measure on the side. In those days you could be blocked by another ball in front of you on the green but not if it was within 6 inches.

While staying in Dreaman for five months, I enjoyed many rounds at the golf course(18holes) here with highland tourism. The overall difficulty of course was a little easy, but it often suffers from a long rough. The scenery of the golf course was very beautiful and well managed. There are two types of driving ranges, natural grass and artificial grass, so it is very good to practice. However, when it rained a lot, the stream overflowed, making it difficult to move between holes. The professional shop staff was very kind and cooperative. I look forward to revisiting and playing the round someday

I only dropped off my teenage son in the car park to go swimming nearby with his friends, but WOW, the houses on the half mile drive into the club car park....if you can afford to, buy a house here because it's not only within a very quiet and beautiful location, it's within 30 minutes drive MAXIMUM to Stirling or Glasgow, Edinburgh perhaps 45/50 minutes...fantastic

Great course for visitors, some interesting dog leg holes, signature par 3, and lovely old castle courtyard for pint after easy walking round.

Good greens. Great views. Cracking par 3's. several challenging tee shots on the par 4's, 7 and 17 to name a couple, with plenty of dog-legs requiring you to move the ball both ways. Warm up facilities are second to none with a covered range, short iron facilities, putting green a short course area.

The Pro was very good arranging a time to suit us (four ball).
All the staff were very friendly. We arrived very early, even before the bar and kitchen were open but the house manager took pity on us and made bacon sandwiches. Not every club's staff would do that.
Thank you very much from the Yorkshire boys.

Lovely (if tired) clubhouse and good parkland course with some great views. Don't go hungry though as the menu choices are very limited. We were a large group and wish we'd all said we were gluten intolerant as that necessitated a (lovely) salad!

Course in pretty good condition, greens were excellent. Alot of similar par 4's 340-400 yds which look like the same hole. Wouldnt be returning in a hurry as we weren't overly impressed with the reception we received from the guy in the pro shop..... far from welcoming!! Golf Clubs nowadays should be welcoming anyone paying to play their course...
