Cambridge Counselling Service
Typical problems that people bring to counselling include low-mood, depression, feeling stuck or trapped, anxiety, stress, feeling unhappy at work, eating issues, over-doing drink, drugs, gambling or computers, relationship issues (work or personal), identity issues, family problems, bereavement, career uncertainty or dissatisfaction, life-stage issues (eg mid-life crisis, retirement), a sense of something being 'not quite right' or a desire for greater well-being or personal development.

Through listening to you and talking with you, the counsellor aims to facilitate your personal development.Counsellors rarely offer advice, but instead will work collaboratively with you to help you look at your situation with fresh eyes and experiment with new solutions. Many people feel that their problems are not important enough to warrant counselling.
Services
I am an integrative psychotherapist and counsellor and draw on a wide range of theories, techniques and research, to guide my practice and adapt my approach to different client needs.

I have wide-ranging experience of working with clients who are struggling with low mood, depression, anxiety, mood swings, relational difficulties, relationship breakdown, concerns or difficulties relating to identity, gender and sexuality, grief, trauma, parenting issues, pre/post-natal challenges and depression, obsessive compulsive disorder, stress and difficulties at work.
Cambridge Counselling Service is a network of private-practitioner counsellors from the Cambridge area, who are all interested in helping widen access to counselling and in helping people get their lives on track. We are the largest private counselling service in Cambridge and we work from private offices near Stourbridge Common in Cambridge that have been especially designed and built for counselling.
Couples counselling offers enormous opportunities for positive and creative change, for both a couple and for their wider family. Couples work is often short-term (4-6 sessions) and aims to help unblock situations that seem stuck and/or resolve ruptures in relationships.

Couples work can be useful for couples who want to find a ways to stay together well, couples who want to work out the best possible ways to separate and couples who are unsure what they want for their relationship going forward.
Low cost (rate 5) sessions are usually with associate counsellors. These cost 20 per session for weekly sessions. Anyone with a household income of less than 20k/annum can apply for rate 5 sessions. If your household income is over this threshold or there are other circumstances that mean you are limited in your ability to pay for counselling, please get in touch, it may well be possible to arrange something.
If you would like to dip your toe in the water of counselling, to see whether it works for you and whether you find it useful, then you may want to book a 'Life MOT'. In two sessions, the counsellor will guide you through an exploration of your life situation. By the end of the sessions you will have a better idea of the themes, issues and options going forward.
