After being disappointed by all of the local curry houses we've tried lately, we had a take-away from here last night on the recommendation of a friend who raves about it and we weren't disappointed. Food arrived quicker than advised (about 40 mins on a Saturday when I'd reasonably expect to wait an hour or more), was hot and was really good. I had Paneer Nawabi (really lovely) and bloke had Murg Madurai, also excellent.
Portions a bit smaller than from others we've tried (a take away ordinarily does me for two dinners whereas this one was maybe one dinner and a small lunch!), but the quality

Please please please read the other reviews about late food! Ordered food at 530ish to be delivered at 1930, the food didn't arrive for over 50 minutes and I'm still waiting whilst writing this review. I also called the restaurant multiple times to be fobbed off with 'the driver is 5 minutes away' on multiple occasions. It's a shame as I used to always use the Battersea branch when they first opened as they were brilliant and now I won't bother ordering from here again.

Enjoyed delicious food from holy cow for years. However, I had a terrible experience recently when they cancelled an order but kept the payment. After trying to contact them to resolve the mistake they have not. I understand the difficult situation recently so have been very understanding of this mistake. After 5 weeks and their operation going again I think they should have resolved this by now and won't use them again in case it happens again.

Not your average London curry house. There are relatively rare dishes as well as plenty of classics, but even those are done in a far tastier, more interesting way than at most places. The website needs updating and delivery can be slow, but they do a great job and I can't help but keep coming back for more.

It's Sunday night and I have a mountain of things to do before work tomorrow. My favourite Islington indian takeaway (reviewed here too!) was warning of 1.5hr waits, so it's time to find somewhere else. I remember walking past Holy Cow, so I give them a try.
Wish I hadn't!
This is pretty bland stuff, no real spicing going on, no depth of flavour to speak of. Just tomatoey vaguely indiany. Very disappointing. But it came quickly!

Oh Sacred Bovine!
This pious bison has got themselves a trendy (graphic) branding and I don't mean via the application of a red-hot iron poker... Have you seen the packaging? Had my curries delivered last week in a fancy cardboard box resembling somewhat of an oversized milk carton, to unfold with separate compartments including a clever roti pocket.
So envious product designers, if that isn't enough to entice thee, the food itself is pretty damn good. I think their 'philosophy' goes on about using all fresh ingredients and all that. Great. Quite a fan of the 'machchli

On a mission to find the best Indian Take away (in my area) we tried Holy Cow. Much PR and reviews and photos on the website.
Ordering was easy. Food came in 45 minutes as specified.
Foodwise it was OK. Nothing special, no surprises good or bad with meat cubed in regular sized chunks, everything uniform. A bit like something from a production line.. Dahl a bit bland too. I don't mean it wasn't spicy, it was just one dimensional.
A-OK sums it up.
I imagine it would be exactly the same next time (a bit like McDonalds).

Holy freakin' Cow! This place has become a firm favourite of mine.
Not a restaurant, but merely a take-away. Still, there's nothing wrong with eating an Indian meal at home is there? As it happens, I'm not sure I can think of a better way to eat. Hooray for Holy Cow and their endeavors to satisfy us with what I've just decided is the greatest way to eat - fact!
Anyway, the reason for the 5 star rating of this place is simple: the food is amazing. The menu is a little less extensive than many other take-aways but there's still choice enough for whatever sort of meal may

Quick yummy delivery when you're craving Indian food. The variety is pretty good and you get to taste different dishes apart from the usual Chicken Tikka. I highly recommend Paneer Nawabi (tandoori paneer in a tangy sauce) and Chicken Jaisalmer. I agree with the review below about the food being bland - so do ask for a bit of spice when you place the order ;-)

Was awful. Decided to try because it was rainy and they had put a decently designed pamphlet through the door. Food took an hour and 20 minutes andwas in no way warm. Had to microwave everything and put the limp naan bread under the grill.
There was very little taste and weirdly no sauce. I've never had a curry with big hunks of overcooked meet and no sauce to speak of. Even the sag paneer was dry, which I didn't even think was possible.
Had about four bites and just threw it out, it was that inedible.
