Delicious meal and really great, friendly, service. Best place to go in D&G, par none.
Our table had haggis scotch eggs, squid, and scallops with duck to start, and then cod and gourmet burgers for mains. The rice pudding with sticky toffee ice cream was the best I'd ever tasted. Absolutely delicious.
Staff all very friendly, accommodating and helpful.

We stayed near by and visited for lunch. The food was amazing, the best beef pie and chocolate dessert that I have ever had. It was a friendly atmosphere and dog friendly in the bar too. We would definitely recommend and would love to come back one day. Recommend you book a table in advance as you don't want to miss out!

An absolute gem of a restaurant hidden away in a quiet Galloway village. I was concerned that a menu 9 main items was too long to bed trusted but I was wrong. Everything we tried was fresh and tasty. Portion sizes were just right and there was an excellent balance of fish, meat and vegetarian options. We had to book a week in advance but it was worth it.

Stopped here when passing through on a Sunday lunch time several weeks ago and were fortunate to get a table. We were so pleased we did as the service, food and the place as a whole was excellent. The choice of real ale was tempting but driving so couldnt indulge. If this formula could be repeated closer to our home 25 mile's away, that would be good 😁

Simply superb! I'd read the reviews and expected above average pub fare but were we blown away! The ambience was instantly relaxed and casual but the air smelled divine, clearly an establishment able to cater for the regular ale drinker and the visiting diner.
As we were escorted to our table we were taken past the specials board, constantly updated as dishes became no longer available. With such an impressive listing on the specials board I presumed the actual menu would be standard, however it was sophisticated and had several intriguing dishes. Everything we ordered was beyond expectations

Wow. This is one those Scottish villages that looks like someone took a handful of white-painted cottages and threw them against a hillside. Unfortunately, it seems to be too small to sustain the two pub inns that are there and they both apparently change ownership with some frequency.
I have eaten at the Clachan Inn previously and it was rather uninspired standard pub fare, but this evening's experience at the current incarnation was exactly the opposite.
Appetizers included a rabbit terrine smartly served in a kilner jar with toast and an spectacular haggis Scotch egg in a whisky sauce

Nope. The pub/restaurant is open again. Incidentally the address stated is wrong, it is located in Dalry, not Castle Douglas.
We found the bar very busy with a mixture of locals and visiting tourists. Everyone appeared welcoming and friendly. We went into the adjoining restaurant were we were served in a friendly manner. There was a large selection of dishes of which ours were delivered quickly, although one of the starters was mislaid (but apologised for). The Guinness was full and creamy but the real delight was the presence of Spifire which was particularly welcome. Kids were made welcome and
