Services
It would not be far fetched it was love at first sight when we saw the building and the beautiful area of Dumfries and Galloway. We decided that it was a perfect time to start the next phase of our lives together with our 1 year old son and a very adorable ( read very spoilt ) cocker spaniel Hamish.
The hotel was called the Emespie House Hotel until 1990 when it was changed to The Urr Valley. We have changed the name back to the Ernespie house hotel as we felt that it was important to reflect the history of a house that has been an integral part of the history of Stewartry. It was converted into a hotel around1947 from a private residence.
We are delighted to bring to you some very unique and special offers. These have been carefully created with our partners and are exclusive to Ernespie House. We are confident that you will find these inspiring and enjoy the unique land that is Dumfries and Galloway. So if its golfing, experiencing the delightful food on offer at Mr Pook's kitchen, a visit to the Threave gardens or a just a great value break this is the space to explore.
We know how important it is to keep the little people happy family. That's why as would expect in a family run country house we don't compromise on space. The family rooms feature generous space with a queen-size bed taking centre stage for mum and dad and a single bed to accommodate the little person We also have an option to out in a Z bed at a small charge of 20.00 should that be required.
The largest room in the hotel, in keeping with the ethos of our hotel this suite is named after Jenny my wife's siter and my sister-in-law. Jenny was instrumental in the way the suite is decorated and laid out. The master bedroom of the suite features a comfortable & beautiful super king sleigh bed and lovely and warm furnishings.

Staff were lovely as were the curries. The downstairs was very comfortable. The bedroom however was awful. We had been contacted twice about upgrading it to help with another booking and because of a plumbing problem?? A four poster bed was a frame around a bed slightly smaller than a double and mattress not fit for sleeping on. The room smells of a dog having been in it and window couldn't be opened......strange in these covid times.

Visited Ernespie today as the hotel had provided the catering for a funeral I had attended locally.
The food was excellent. No complaints on that front. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and attentive. Special mention for Grace who was very customer orientated.

Last minute getaway
The wife and I decided to do a last minute getaway, we didn’t want to travel to far from home so we looked at hotel in and around Castle Douglas. We found the Enerspie House Hotel and called the them, the moment we called the hotel to book was very easy and straight forward, Shashank the owner asked if we would like a dinner so we booked for the first night. The room it’s self was amazing we had booked the suite which has just been newly decorated. All the staff were amazing could not have done enough from us and it’s lovely to see it’s the locals working and they know

A perfect choice for our first holiday with our hyperactive lab puppy. Staff members are very friendly & patient and always ready to offer options to have your pup with you while you are enjoying your lovely breakfast or dinner. Absolutely stunning views and we can’t wait to be back.
