Springwood opened its doors in 1945 as one of the first day nurseries in Leeds. It remained in the same hands for some 40 years, and after two further proprietors we bought the nursery in 1998. After training together and completing our NNEB in 1984 we both enjoyed a varied career in the early years sector and social services.
1998 was the start of what has continued to be an exhilarating journey. Our purpose is to create a home from home; a safe, secure and happy place where the love, care and nurturing that the children receive is central to all that we do. Each and every child is valued as a unique individual. They are cared for by a team of very special practitioners who are warm, loving and responsive to each child's needs, feelings and interests.

Individuals in our diverse team have chosen a career in childcare because they are passionate about making a difference; they have enthusiasm and show devotion and dedication to the children they care for. Successful applicants will demonstrate an excellent working knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage framework and its supporting documents.
Research tells us that our eating habits are formed at a very young age, so the choices, tastes and nutritional quality of the food offered to infants and young children has a far-reaching effect on their nourishment, food preferences and health later in life. We are passionate about, and take great care to prepare high quality food that is appetising and meets the nutritional requirements of growing children.
When parents and practitioners work together in early years settings, the results have a positive impact on children's development and learning.' Positive Relationships is a key theme within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). The principle is that 'children learn to be strong and independent from a base of loving and secure relationships with parents and / or a key person'.
