Welcome to Abbots Cross Primary School and thank you for taking the time to get to know us. With an enrolment of around 320 students in a 14-class structure, Abbots Cross Primary School is in a position to provide a high level of resources while at the same time pupils are known on a more personal level.
The happy, family-friendly nature of our school community is underpinned by an excellent pastoral programme. Staff members are trained to support children of all abilities: those children with special gifts and talents, those on the Autistic spectrum and those with specific learning needs such as dyslexia and dyspraxia.

Services
Our vision is for Abbots Cross Primary School pupils to become aspirational achievers, resilient learners and caring contributors to a challenging world. We believe that children thrive and maximise potential in an environment which is happy and secure and where mutual respect is nurtured and valued.
Playground supervision begins at 8:30. To limit the number of pupils in the playground at the same time, aim to arrive no more than 5 minutes before your child's start time. Parents should say goodbye to children at the school gate. During the school day, our children will complete a wide range of Numeracy, Literacy and topic activities.
Through the generosity of our school family, pupils, parents and staff, we are lucky to be able to sponsor two children from Ethiopia. Their names are Lalise and Raji. We enjoy communicating with both Lalise and Raji by sending letters, cards and small gifts back and forth throughout the year. In doing so, we have been able to learn lots about their lives.
In P1 we take a practical approach to teaching and learning allowing our pupils to find fun and excitement in their learning everyday! Our topic this half term is 'Colour and Rhyme' where we will be learning about colour including thinking about what we associate with each other and investigating what happens when we mix different colours.
Our topics in the first half-term are 'All About Me' and 'Emergency Services'. Throughout our topics we will have many opportunities to engage in Play Based Learning activities and explore our outdoor environment, including our brand new outdoor classroom. As well as all of this we will be working hard to build on our Literacy, Numeracy and ICT skills.
