A very warm welcome to Longton Lane Community Primary School. I hope our website will give you an insight into what our school is about and the work we do here. Our school is a caring, happy & vibrant place with our pupils at the forefront of all we do. We are proud of all of our children and continually strive to support them to achieve their best in all they do.
Our knowledge and skills curriculum provides children a fun way to learn whilst they grow in confidence and develop as independent learners. Our mission statement is 'Believe and Achieve'. This is underpinned by our belief that a successful partnership between parents, children and our school leads to an environment for everyone to flourish in.

Our pupils experience a history curriculum which inspires, engages and provides opportunities for them to develop a thirst for historical knowledge and an understanding of how the past impacts on the present. History is by nature an investigative subject which develops an understanding of concepts, knowledge and skills.
The class teachers in Reception this year are Mrs Southward and Miss Corrigan, who are joined by Miss Howard and Miss Slater. In Reception, we have a balance between child-initiated and adult led activities.
When children are operating in the provision they are learning through play, within enabling environments, with the support and guidance of knowledgeable adults; providing secure relationships in which children flourish and reach their full potential.

In our class we are lucky to have a mix of focused activities and play to learn opportunities. Banded reading books - these are changed every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Don't worry about reading a full book each day, reading a couple of pages each day will be great. Please just make a note of which page you have read up to.
I am Miss Patino, I teach one of our KS1 classes, and I am lucky enough to look after all the children in KS1. In our classroom, we also have Miss Croft, who is a fabulous member of our support staff. During this half term, in Maths we will be focussing on our place value skills, counting in 2s, 5s, 10s forwards and backwards within 100 and our addition and subtraction facts!
