I feel extremely privileged to be Headteacher, and I am very proud to share with you the wonderful opportunities and developments at St Gregory's. St Gregory's Catholic Primary is a vibrant school where children are enthusiastic and motivated to achieve endless possibilities with Christ at the centre of all we do. Every child is welcomed and valued as a unique member of God's family.

This is a very exciting year for maths at St Gregory's as we have been selected to take part in 'The Central Maths Hub Teaching For Mastery Research Group'. Miss O'Leary and Miss Cole will be working with specialist practitioners from The Hub to develop maths at St Gregory's and other schools in the region.
As a school, we are provided with a PE and Sport premium find which is designed to help us improve the quality of PE and sport activities that we offer the children at St. Gregory's. We are free to choose how we use this money and are required to publish details in the way this funding is used.
The objectives of spending in 2019-2020 are to increase our participation in inter-school and cluster competitions, broaden after-school club opportunities, update sports equipment for lessons and playtime, embed a high standard of PE provision with Level 3 Sports Coaching qualified staff and introduce new, inclusive games to pupils. At St. Gregory's, we provide every child with a minimum of two hours of physical activity per week.

In KS1 we have been learning to program in JiT and Scratch Jr. Scratch Jr is an developed by MiT to help introduce children to block programming. It can be downloaded (for free!) from www.scratchjr.org. In Year 1 we read Smartie the Penguin and talked about staying safe online. In Year 2 we watched a video and discussed how we would feel if we received a mean message.
Very much looking forward to the start of the Autumn term and hopefully back to the music room! We have all missed singing and playing our instruments. The start of the new term sees a revamped Charanga curriculum, aligned to the listening, notation, skills and year-by-year progression pathway of the DfE's MMC, which was published earlier this year.
