The information provided on our website is intended to give an insight into what goes on in our school, to keep you up-to-date with newsletters, events and activities and to celebrate the children's work and achievements. At Ballynure Primary we aim to create a warm, welcoming school where each child feels happy, safe, self-confident and valued; and strives, with the help of caring, committed staff, to fulfil his or her potential.
Services
The Board of Governors has responsibility for various aspects of life in the school including the curriculum, staffing, admission of pupils, child protection and finance. Our Governors are representatives from the local community, parents, staff and the Education Authority (EA). They work very hard to support the work of the school and meet regularly to discuss all aspects of provision in the school.
Mrs Doherty is the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) and organises the special needs support in school. Mrs Woods and sometimes some of the other teachers provide some extra lessons outside of class during the school day on a one-to-one or small group basis following consultation with parents or carers.
Ballynure Primary School offers many extra-curricular activities during the course of the school year. We provide football, rugby, cricket and hockey, games and athletics run by teachers and supported by external agencies. We also offer non-sporting clubs such as Art and Craft, Choir and Drama, Bible Club, Cycling proficiency, Eco club and ICT.
From November you child will be given a reading book home. This is a wonderful opportunity for parent and child to work together and should be a positive and enjoyable experience. Children are introduced to Storyworld and Oxford Reading Tree reading scheme which have been chosen to stimulate an interest in stories, pictures and print and to develop reading skills.
Teachers are aware the packs are extensive and detailed so this section contains a range of optional extras to remind you that teachers are here and still thinking about you and the pupils but also to give you something 'up your sleeve' if you need 5 minutes to make an important call while working from home or just some time to yourself.
