At William Stockton Primary School our motto is "Achieve Excellence" and we are committed to providing a welcoming, calm and stimulating environment in which we can nurture the achievements of every child. We provide a broad and balanced education, where children are encouraged to explore, discover and question through a range of exciting learning opportunities both within and outside the classroom.

We recognise and celebrate the talents of each child, enabling them to grow in confidence and achieve both their educational and personal goals. It is good practice to wear face coverings and maintain social distancing on school premises. Please stick to the strict drop off/pick up times (see below) and if you have a number of children attending school, use the EARLIEST time.

At William Stockton Primary School, we view History as a way of encouraging pupils to become detectives who explore the past in a variety of exciting ways. History allows children to investigate a wide range of sources from which the past may come alive and inspire the children to want to find out more about times gone by.
This summer it is the Tokyo Olympics! Complete the challenges below during the summer holiday and return all your amazing work in September! We have a 30 minute daily phonics lesson to practise reading and writing our sounds. This is followed up with a 15 minute daily guided reading session. Each week we will be introduced to a new spelling pattern that we will be encouraged to use in our writing and reading.
This half-term our Literacy Book is 'Look up' by Nathan Bryan. The children will continue to develop their vocabulary and extended writing. We will consolidate our understanding of using conjunctions and adjectives in our writing to make it more interesting, whilst beginning to apply taught spelling patterns too.
Our topic for the autumn term is The History of Protest. During this topic, we will develop our historical enquiry skills. We will look at protests throughout history, and discover what they are and why people take part in them. Being introduced to and inspired by different authors. We will study the texts: Brave Girl - Michelle Markel, Greta and the Giants - Zoe Tucker, Pride - Rob Sanders, Suffragettes - the Battle for Equality - David Roberts.
