The Mitre Inn
The Mitre Inn is situated in the small village of Sandford Orcas, just three and a half miles north of Sherborne, tucked in the rolling hills of the Dorset countryside. The pub was originally built in 1851 as a cider house but now as a freehouse, we sell beer and cider from local breweries such as Apex Brewery and Yeovil Ales.

The present owners have run the pub since 1992 and having purchased the pub in 2014 have completed extensive refurbishment, whilst still keeping the charm of the building. The owners Allen and Cheryl Page have now established two high standard letting rooms, boasting en- suite shower rooms. The rooms have received high reviews on booking.com and trip advisor.
Services
Allen and Cheryl have two wonderful dogs, Finlay and his daughter Freya. They will welcome you throughout your stay and whilst the pub is dog friendly, unfortunately we are unable to allow dogs to stay in the letting rooms. Guests can use the pubs car park throughout the duration of their stay free of charge.
This room has a King size bed with en-suite shower, toilet and hand basin. There is a TV and Tea & Coffee making facilities along with 2 comfortable chairs and small table. The room is on the first level and is accessed by a small wide set of stairs from the main hallway. The Twin/Superking size room has 2x 3ft single beds which Zip & Link to provide a very comfortable Superking size bed.
The hut is well insulated, however, in the summer it helps to keep the curtains drawn when really hot. In the winter we have an electric wood burning stove. Please make sure that electrical appliances are turned off when you are not in the hut. To the left hand side of the door to the shower room there is an electric switch which turns the towel rail on.
We have fresh fish delivered 3 times a week and during the summer we grow some of our own vegetables. One of our most popular meals is home cooked Ham Eggs & Chips. Our Sunday roasts have a good following and there are always 3 choices of meat along with a vegetarian and fish option. In the Autumn/Winter there are 2 wood burning stoves making the bar and dining room a cosy place to relax.
The Fleet Air Arm Museum is devoted to the history of British naval aviation. It has an extensive collection of military and civilian aircraft, aero engines, models of aircraft and Royal Navy ships (especially aircraft carriers), and paintings and drawings related to naval aviation. To wander through the sweeping corridors and grand rooms of Longleat House is to be transported back in time.

Freshly cooked food and good ales, what's not to like? And The Mitre Inn is dog friendly.
If you are in the area go find this brilliant pub.
