A warm welcome awaits you with excellent Aless, fantastic food and fantastic wines in our wonderful walled garden. Due to an ongoing health problem, I will be out of action for a while. Our vibrant and hardworking young team will do their very best to look after you during this time.

The Ostrich Inn is set in the middle of the village opposite the church and is thought to have taken it's name from the Ostrich emblem used by the Probyns, the local landowners in previous centuries. The Ostrich Inn is a free house renowned for its excellent food with one of the best restaurants in the area, catering for a wide variety of tastes, including vegetarians.

What a fantastic old pub! Stopped here halfway through a long walk and what a delight - I haven't seen a pub like this for a long time.
It's like a homely cave inside with a good fire. A lovely garden out back and seating out the front also.
The food is pricey, but well worth it - no need for starters or desserts as the mains are very good portions. Well cooked and delicious. The three cheese tart is a cheese overload - just what I needed to complete the walk we were doing!
The 2 women there were really friendly and helpful getting us back on track for our walk. Oh, and the pub is, of course

Lovely old pub with wonderful atmosphere. Great choice of beers. Pub food excellent through the day but restaurant meals in the evening absolutely outstanding. Way above traditional pub food. I strongly recommend that you don’t go there on days that I do! Please don’t tell anybody else about the Ostrich. I cannot find the words to describe the high quality and ingenuity of the Chef. Just keep it quiet.

Having read the reviews at the top, I was expecting so much, but now realise I should have gone down the list further.
This is a lovely old world pub with a cosy atmosphere and the staff were also very friendly.
The drinks were fine, but the food was a real let down. We had rabbit as a starter and that was not too bad, but I had rack of lamb with creamy minted peas. The lamb was really tough with a lot of fat and the mint on the peas was too overpowering. I don't think it was fresh mint either. My wife had monkfish with tiger prawns in a pie with sugar snap peas. She said it was overpowered with

Friendly traditional pub. Popped in for drinks whilst on a walk, but the food menu looked tempting and we hope to return to try it (hence 4 stars as can't comment on food)

Amazing food. We repeatedly go back lunch times for the soup and the ribs. Rarely make it to dessert as the meals are so filling but when we have they are amazing
