The values of our Catholic school are rooted in the teaching of Christ, and provide a basis for high standards in our academic aims as well as in our moral life. Christ's ministry, as recounted in the Gospels, and the values he promoted through his teachings are fundamental to the life of our school in fulfilling its purpose as a Catholic institution.
St. Aidan's is a small Catholic primary school situated in Croydon on the borders of Surrey and Sutton. We currently have 219 children on roll from Reception to Year 6. While the majority of our pupils belong to our two official feeder parishes, St Aidan's and St Mary's Help of Christians, we are home to a number of pupils from surrounding parishes and a small number of pupils of other faiths.
Francis had no wish to study or to learn his father's business, as he was having too much fun. One day he refused to give alms to a poor beggar but as the man was leaving, he felt sorry for what he had done and ran after him with some money. After he fell ill twice, Francis realized that he was wasting precious time.
Joseph of Nazareth is a great saint who totally lived by faith - a faith that made him a real hero. He was chosen by our heavenly Father as the trustworthy guardian and protector of his greatest treasures, Jesus his divine son and Mary Queen of heaven. Joseph was Jesus' foster-father and Mary's husband.
When the Roman soldiers arrested Jesus, Peter was afraid. In his fright he committed the sin of denying that he knew Jesus, three times. Peter was terrified that they would kill him too, but before Jesus died, Peter repented totally. He wept over his denials for the rest of his life and Jesus lovingly forgave Peter.
