The multi award winning Horseshoe Inn is a beautiful, family run, country pub, situated just thirty minutes south of Edinburgh. An Ideal peaceful retreat if you are visiting Edinburgh fringe festival or Military Tattoo! We are only a few miles away from the beautiful town of Peebles and the famous river Tweed.
Glentress and 7 Stanes are also within minutes from us. We serve fresh food 7 days from our extensive menu. This can be washed down with an excellent selection of real ales, craft beers, artisan gin, delicious wines and everything else you'd expect in a country pub. You can even bring the dog and the kids along!

We stayed at the hotel nearby and walked here for dinner just because it was nearby. Wow. I had the BEST roast lamb I have ever tried in my life. I've been to several Michelin restaurants and I must say that the lamb here (for 18) was DEFINITELY up to that standard. The other dish was their panna cotta.
We have eight comfortable, cosy bedrooms, perfect for a short break or extended trip base. Enjoy dinner and stroll back to your room. Located in the former Victorian village schoolhouse they're tucked well back from the road and offer a peaceful night's sleep. All the rooms have ensuite showers excepting our premier room which has an en-suite bathroom with shower.

Great menu that we were looking forward to but, staff knew little about the menu or drinks so not good for advice. Seafood was overcooked which I think is sacrilege when it wasn't cheap. Orders were wrong with special requests disregarded as the chef doesn't make changes. We didn't find this out until the meals arrived. All in all an expensive lesson learned.

Lovely decor and nice staff. Didn't seem overly busy but we had quite a wait for our main meal, well over half an hour. Both ordered fish and chips. Descent size piece of fish and hot but very greasy. The chips were inedible- very greasy and had the appearance of having been fried more than once. We could only manage half of the fish as it was so greasy. So disappointing. Other meals served looked good. We realised after a while there was a dog in the restaurant but luckily was far enough away not to agitate my allergy. We didn't know it was dog friendly as would have gone elsewhere.

WE SEEMED TO hit every traffic light from Newhaven to Sir Harry Lauder Road as we journeyed south towards The Horseshoe. I cannot stand others' lateness, particularly when it comes to eating arrangements, so I was slightly embarrassed to call ahead and advise of our unfortunate delay.
This unassuming restaurant with rooms is situated 17 miles from Edinburgh city centre, just outside of Peebles (Eddleston to be exact). I knew very little about it, bar the odd comment that "it has a good reputation" and held two AA Rosettes. After a torrid hour-and-a-half trek I was in need of a

My wife and I headed to the Horseshoe in Eddleston last Thursday. It's a place we had never been before even though we are down Peebles way fairly often. One of those, "We'll need to try that place one of these days." kind of places.
At a wedding I attended last Monday, I had heard that a new head chef had just started several weeks previously and has come from a Michelin Starred restaurant in The New Forrest. Now I love good food and this statement certainly caught my attention. A table was booked.
