At the Chapel, in the Somerset town of Bruton, in the south-west of England, has been created in a Grade II Listed, 17th-century former chapel. Our all-day restaurant and bar is open every day, to serve breakfast, coffee, lunch, afternoon tea, cocktails, wines and dinner within a soaring, convivial space.
The kitchen uses only the best West Country produce and brings a relaxed Mediterranean approach to British food. Fresh pizzas from the authentic stone-built wood-fired pizza oven are served in the restaurant and also available to take out. We have eight contemporary and luxurious bedrooms above the restaurant.

Services
Our main dining area, in a beautiful 18th century chapel is alive and buzzing all day long, with locals and visitors from all over the world, staying for long brunches, lazy lunches and convivial dinners.
It is all about simple, seasonal ingredients that are sourced locally and our head chef, Henry Osmond, a local Somerset boy, works closely with local, organic and biodynamic growers, farmers and cheesemakers as well as some of the best Italian suppliers, to offer a relaxed and informal Mediterranean approach to British food. Our sourdough pizzas, from our wood-fired oven are simply the best outside of Italy!

Our baker Tom Hitchmough has been baking artisan bread here At the Chapel in Bruton for the past twelve years. Tom and his team are passionate about quality bread and the joys of a wood-fired oven. We bake the long fermented traditional way, using stone-ground organic flour, water and salt, using a small amount of yeast in some breads and in others lots of seeds and fruit.
We have carefully sourced over 50 individual wines, from Europe, South Africa, South America and Oregon, many of them organic or biodynamic, all from small producers and each with a story to tell. A diverse collection of real wines produced by real people in real vineyards rather than bland wines that could be produced (and reproduced) in any region or country.

WHAT A LOAD OF RUBBISH . . . time and time again we have given At The Chapel a chance - because they are a small local business and the food is usually good, we wanted them to succeed but the quality of their customer service is sketchy at best - they still owe us a load of money for a really poor meal we had last time we were there. So we checked the website this morning - it says OPEN TODAY (website and google both say "open") and off we trot for an anniversary breakfast treat (15 miles later) and . . . guess what - SHUT with a dishevelled note on their door - the arrogance of this place is beyond

Abysmal service. Stood waiting to order a coffee for 5 minutes whilst staff chatted amongst themselves completely blanking me. Eventually I asked if they were still serving coffee, they said yes, then continued to chat to each other. Finally the young lady asked me if I wanted anything and proceeded to serve my £4 coffee (more expensive than London) in a dirty cup! Absolutely appalled, will not go back!

One of the best burgers I have ever had... delicious. Having seen the burger when I walked in, it was difficult to resist. There are plenty of posher dishes, but the fries looked and tasted amazing too. Drinks are a bit different... I had a salted chocolate milkshake, which was yummy... and the kids all had wonderful pizzas. Recommended to all... booking is vital, as there isn't masses of tables.

Travelled a 24 mile round trip today - terrible service and the food was 🤮 . . . and its not the first time for bad service, attitude and food.
Happy to spend my money trying to support local At The Chapel as… much as possible over the last 18 months, but this is ridiculous.
You cannot even be bothered to take a telephone order properly . . . £40 for a cold burger, 2 x cold skinny fries a ultra slinky designer salad that was basically a few leaves for £9 etc kept us waiting - didnt even check that the food was ready etc
Will not be coming back again - very dissapointing

We’ve just picked up a takeaway. Firstly the girl on the phone when I ordered it was really uninterested, as if she wasn’t bothered if we ordered or not. I agreed to collect at 3.30pm arrived and paid for my order. 12 mins after 3.30pm I questioned a chef who was just hanging around if he knew when our food would be ready and said it’s been… ready since 3.30pm ….. nobody told me you were here ! So he brought it out, 7 boxes/ containers no offer of a bag …… Having got our food we were disappointed to say the least. Half the chips were burnt, all the

Very very Disappointing !! What’s happened to the Chapel? Ordered bacon sandwich it was like something from roadside cafe. No garnish, no chips/fries as chef didn’t have fryer on. Veggie roasted peppers and… hummus sourdough roll dry as a bone. Asked for jug water received one glass which was chipped! A lot of money for awful bog standard food. Did say to waiter how disappointing it was. Fell on deaf ears.

Visiting Bruton for a few days and wanted to try as many food outlets as we could. The Chapel was fully booked most days but they did manage to fit us in on the Monday evening........ thank goodness as all other options were closed. My husband had the chicken which was moist and full of flavour. I had the fishy pizza which was average. The bottle of Rose we ordered came warm. When this was mentioned our waitress said that the woman on the table behind us had said the same. So, mixed results and certainly not the best food and drink we'd had in our stay. but glad to have eaten something on Monday

First time visiting the English countryside + Bruton with my family last week and At The Chapel made it feel like home! Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful space. The rooms were spacious and very tastefully decorated and the bathrooms were so luxurious. The croissants delivered to your door in the morning are heavenly, especially topped with the jam. The staff is very helpful and friendly. The restaurant at the hotel is fantastic and very convenient. Unfortunately, the hotel does not have air conditioning so it was very hot. The windows do open and are very large and beautiful. They have

Whether you are visiting The Hauser and Wirth Gallery, beautiful Stourhead or simply passing by, I recommend you stop by for a meal At the Chapel. The vibe of redesigned sacral interior is very appealing and creates a truly atmospheric backdrop for appreciating the food and drink.
Starting the evening with an aromatic espresso martini I was shortly after served with some wonderful bread baked on site. For the main course I picked a ribeye steak which was of excellent quality and surprisingly affordable. Everyone I was there with was satisfied with their meals and we were the last to leave the place

What a solace from the city. It was just really nice get away. I wish I could go back by just hopping in my car rather than flying over the ocean.
My friend in London recommended this trip to Bruton to stay at the Chapel for a short weekend.
We had all our meals there and just loved the food.
Cocktail was not so great- Moscamule was not served in proper copper jar.
Their bakery is amazing. The chia seed, other multi grain bread was sent from the heaven.
I highly recommend this place!

Let's get started.. Firstly, if you live nearby and are at a cross roads about where to eat for either lunch or dinner or even take away (yes I did say take away), just go here.
"Wow what an assertive review, darling, I'm pretty sure the guy writing this review wor-"
I'm saying go because of a variety of reaons but most of all the pizza's. Just get one, it will be the best pizza you're going to get in Dorset and probably the surrounding counties too. I think the there was a string of four or five visits where I just exclusively ordered pizza.

What a beautiful place! As the name rather obviously implies, this is a restaurant/tea room in a former chapel. What is also unique is that they have a rather upmarket a la carte menu as well as a more affordable pizza menu, thus catering for all tastes and budgets.
I came for afternoon tea and was happy to explore the building (check out the most beautiful toilets!) - unfortunately, we ran out of time to walk around the grounds.
Apparently, Bruton is quite well known but I had never been - fully understand the village's attraction and look forward to returning for a more in-depth visit

Oh gosh how disappointing, it looks the part beautiful setting views across the countryside, but bit by bit the cracks start to appear. As the saying goes promises much delivers little. Like a film set it appears to be a bistro but is actually not meant to be actually used. Three cooks are visible and yet they let pass food that was less than acceptable, to me this always indicates a top down problem as no one is keeping and marking standards, no pride in what is being sent out. And they are not shy about charging £8 for a small plate of mozzarella and tomatoe and let's face it you don&apos
